No Drob?

I really think Gerhorse's hard nosed running style is gonna lead to some huge plays from Drob.

Quote:I'm still not getting why people think Todman is fighting for a roster spot. He started game 1. Was the backup to Gerhart in Game 2 and last night. To me he has that spot locked down. Why, I have no idea. However, the coaches seem to trust him. Personally, I don't like any runningback on this roster. Gerhart looks like he is running in concrete and the more I watch him the less impressed I become. Storm looks like a street free agent you sign after your regulars go down with injuries. D-Rob has that speed but is still new to the position so he gets an incomplete.
I loved Gerhart's play last night.. I looked at the stats and wasen't impressed but watching him told an entirely different story. Keep in mind the run blocking is no where close to being good right now.

This.

Run blocking is atrocious at times. Why does Gerhart look like he's running in cement? Because he has linemen draped over his legs. Dude has power. Drob has speed. Todman and Storm are spell backs. Very possible all 4 have a spot on the roster at seasons beginning.

I realize the run blocking is bad and I take that into consideration. It isn't just bad, it is awful. I didn't watch Gerhart in Minnesota, so all I could go on were stats which implied he had promise. But from what I have seen in preseason, I continue to maintain that our runningback situation is among the worst in the NFL. We aren't Titans bad, but we are in the bottom third of the league and Gerhart is a part of that. I think the guy is average.

Quote:It just dosen't make sense unless his role was reduced because he played a bigger role on special teams. He's out performed both Todman and Johnson this preseason.

No he hasn't

I agree that Robinson has outplayed his competition besides of course Gerhart. His running ability just looks so much better than last year. Todman on the other hand is captain 3 yards and a cloud of dust. I think they are just simply trying to give Todman a legit shot to show them why he is better than the guy they just drafted. At this point, I see a tie between johnson/todman and the breaker goes to the rookie.

14 rushes for 84 yards and a TD -  5.8 YPC

He's had a good preseason.  He has indeed outperformed those guys, I'm afraid.

Storm - 19 carries for 46 yards

Todman 18 carries for (gulp) 26 yards

Maybe I'm just drunk off the teal Kool-ade but I'm thinking they have 5-10 plays designed for his skill set and don't wanna show their cards just yet. It seems they wanna give Todman every opportunity to find a rhythm and make this roster hence the high density of his snaps

I'm drinking the same stuff then, 'cause I think the same thing.  (probably more like 4 or 5 plays, IMO)

all he has to do is break one big one a game and it will be worth it.

I was a bit disappointed to not see him get any carries with the 1's.

Admittedly the run blocking sucks, but Todman has looked way worse than Gerhart with that same line and at this point I expect Todman to be cut. I've been disappointed in Storm Johnson too.
