Gus and dave

#1

Many have been defending the decision not to play bortles by saying "Gus and dave haven't given us a reasonto doubt them yet". True, but they also havent done anything to deserve blind faith (remember Gene Smith?) Dont get me wrong, I think there's a decent chance they'll make this work. But we need to stop acting like they're infallible. They will make mistakes, many mistakes, even if they have a ton of success. Both men have seen rookies start right away and have success down the line. There seems to be no justification for the "sit bortles" plan at this point. Bortles will take sacks, make mistakes. But guess what, that'll happen eventually anyway. If this preseason was the first football you ever watched, who would you think was the seasoned veteran, and who would you think was the timid rookie? This plan is forced, and a joke. We saw how bad a roster Indy had surrounding Luck, and he made it work. Not saying bortles will have the same amount of success initially, but an iffy supporting cast won't make or break a good quarterback.

Roethlisberger initially sat behind Tommy Maddox too.....remember that one?

McNabb sat behind Doug friggin Pederson for 10 games....

Theres definitely precedent here to Gus and Dave's decision, despite the complaints from the low IQ'ers.

Now we move on to Gus and Dave are busts.

What's next? You know, that Shad Khan guy is really terrible. If we don't get a real owner for us to put our faith in then this team just isn't ever going to be good.

Man, those guys on the D-line need to go. The Cheer Babes too. They just can't hack it.

Have you people all been drinking on grandpa's home made hooch tonight?

I don't think because they disagree with you it means they have low IQ's. There is no proved way on which method works better. Go suck butts TMD.

So you think sitting Ben for 3 games made a big difference?

Low IQers? Such a pathetic thing to say considering sitting QB's isn't exactly proven science

Though not proven, recent history of the practice does reveal a high rate of success when it's applied.

I'm still fine waiting for the staff to decide when to start Bortles.  I doubt we'll wait long to see it happen.  He's stated his case on the field.

I would argue that the people with lower IQ are those who have sat through a decade of average to below average qb play, and are willing to take it for 1 more year based on the decisions of a 2nd year regime who, despite overwhelming contradictory evidence, claim a career dud gives us the best chance to win. Nobody is calling dave and gus busts. All management good and bad make mistakes at some point. Believe it or not, it's okay to disagree with ppl, even if you're usually in their corner.

But seeing as you can't prove what would have happened if they weren't sat, it's just an opinion.

Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Andrew Luck etc hardly been held back...

Empirical research suggests an NFL rookie QB discussion is the direct reflection of your intellectual capacity.

I have to think this is a pity thing with henne. They insisted gabbert was the starter for weeks last year, even as the lesser player, and henne was a good egg. They probably didnt think it would hurt to bring him in and have him start. Im guessing they never planned on bortles to look this good. But there is such a thing as adaptation.

So you think Blake would learn more if he went back to UCF for another year with no qb coach?

Obviously because they don't feel like he's ready yet. Whether that be because of the OL, his reps level, his mechanics, or what not.

You act like its just some whim that they are making the decision they are.

Maybe they want Bortles to sit until they bolster the O-Line in next years draft? Throwing Blake out there behind this offensive line for the regular season might do more harm then good. To Blake that is.

Huh? I provided reasoning to why those QB started right away.
