Interesting CFB stats that my surprise...

#1

There are several teams that come to mind if someone were to ask you: "who is DBU?"  What may surprise you is the answer.  Since 2000, the school with the most total INTs by a defensive backfield is... Virginia Tech.

VT  260

OK  246

UF  234

OHST  224

USCwest  222

LSU  215

FSU  213

BAMA  209

TX  199

MIA  197

Frank Beamer has been known for "Beamerball", the nickname given for his special teams units.  But perhaps even more productive has been his defensive backfield.  Not surprising when you note Frank was a DB himself back in the day.

Most consecutive bowls coached, all time:

1.  Bobby Bowden, FSU  28

2.  Tom Osborne, NEB  25

3.  Bear Bryant, BAMA  24

4.  Frank Beamer, VT  21

Note that Frank is the only active coach on the list.

Longest current bowl streaks:

Florida State  32

Virginia Tech  21

Georgia  17

Georgia Tech  17

Oklahoma  15

LSU  14

Boise State  12

Wisconsin  12

Alabama  10

Brigham Young  9

Clemson  9

Oregon  9

It has seemed for a while now that you won't be disappointed having a Va Tech DB on your roster. A Running Back though? Notsomuch.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

This is much more Bud Foster then Frank Beamer. Foster is an unbelieveable defensive coordinator. Foster could have been a HC many times over but is loyal to Beamer and VT. Great Coaches on that staff who win more with their X's and O's then the athletes that they can bring into their school on a consistent basis.

Wilson's presser was moving.  I couldn't have handled it half as well.

I still haven't seen it. I'm not sure I want to either. The poor kid just seems like his talent has been wasted wherever he went.

It drove me nuts watching the way he was used at Tech. It was almost criminal.

Ya know I dont know that this is all that surprising.  It seems like they've always got a DB getting drafted high.  So.... I just went and looked and theyve had a DB go 3rd round or better in 9 of the last 15 drafts.  Seems like every year they've got a quality guy back there.

And now this year theyve got two senior safeties who could be draft high next year as well.

You also have to factor in the competition and style of play. I would love to see the numbers broken down by opponent or conference of opponent . . . but I just don't have the time today!

It's an impressive statistic no doubt
