heyyy shocker.....more rules implemented by [BLEEP] Goodell that do not favor the Jaguars (or Seahawks)....

So they are enforcing the rules that are already there. This is news how?

And "shocker", the angry chihuahua blames Goodell for something hes clueless about.

TAP is shocked they are going to start calling penalties on rules that already exist and this is Goodells fault somehow. Every year the officials target an area to pay more attn. to like offensive holding, defensive offsides, recievers making contact... ect. So this year they are going to watch for those Manning Pick plays and Call some of the downfield PIs that get missed.  Nothing new :teehee:

Greater/excessive enforcement of any rule will impact the flow and outcome of plays, drives, and games.

Pass interference is already a cringe inducing penalty as it is, often being a complete mystery to people viewing replays.

Of course, the greater enforcement of the rules happens on the defensive side of the ball.

Let the defense play.

I know the rules already exist.....but why choose THIS year to finally start enforcing them??

Hmmm???

Coincidence that the Jags are perceived to start rising and have the kind of defense that could be negatively affected by these rules?? yeah, just a coincidence....

When are you people going to wake up and smell the concrete? How many more examples do you need?? Goodell does not want the Jags to succeed in Jacksonville. Now, they may ultimately wind up doing that anyway.....(which will really tick off that [BLEEP]) but he wants the Jags to fail here so they move to one of his choice locales (London/ LA).

Can anyone articulate what was amiss with the way they enforced the penalties last year?

The Seahawks exploited a defensive loophole and now they are trying to close it. Not a huge surprise.

Quote:They surely care, but the Seahawks understand that the officials aren’t inclined to slow the pace of the game to a crawl by throwing flag after flag for interference or defensive holding.

“They look at it and say, ‘We may get called for one but not 10,'” FOX’s Mike Pereira, a former V.P. of officiating, told Clark and Clegg.

If you disassemble your tinfoil hat and sold the material, you could put Reynolds out of business.

Goodell is probably cooking up that scheme too. It was the plan all along to keep the aluminum business from taking over the world and the jaguars out of the superbowl. OH NO, ive figured out the plan now...they are after me. Who? EVERYONE.

I don't know that the Jaguars factored into the decision, but I admit, this is a bit fishy.  Had Denver won the superbowl, I doubt this would have come up, and they wouldn't have changed to rules because Seattle didn't win.  I honestly can't disprove your conspiracy theory, but at the same time, these same rules would benefit Bortles and our receivers, so we'll have to roll with that.  Really I don't see this as having a huge impact on our defense, being that the rule was already in place.  We just have to become a playoff caliber team and it won't matter what Goodell wants or doesn't want.

Pass interference is only there so the refs can tilt the game when it matters.

To suggest this is a conspiracy against the Jaguars is completely moronic.  Probably one of the dumbest things I've seen posted on this board in a long, long time.  Congrats.

It is simple, every time Peyton has a bad post season game, the league advises the Refs to enforce the offense supporting rules more the next year.  Peyton's career is winding down and the Broncos have put their chips all in for this year.  The league hasn't done them much of a favor in scheduling this year.  Early Bye week and 3 road games in a row?  I guess the schedule guru isn't in on it.

After two weeks of preseason (excluding tonight's game), the league is averaging 20.8 penalties called a game.

Quote:

The NFL says it won’t compromise on officiating.

“Points of emphasis” are the three dirty words for defensive players around the league after two weeks of preseason games. But don’t expect the crackdown on defensive clutching and grabbing by the league’s 17 crews to soften once the real games begin in 17 days, league vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said Sunday afternoon.

“We’re not going to change how we’re calling the games once the regular-season starts,’’ Blandino told The MMQB.

That despite the epidemic of flags over the weekend, the second straight preseason weekend with heavy-handedness by the officials. Comparing accepted penalties in last season’s average game with the first two weeks of 2014 preseason football (not including Monday night’s Cleveland-Washington game):

Penalties Per Game

Penalty Yardage Per Game

Average game, 2013 season

12.2

105.6

2014 Preseason Week 1

17.7

145.3

2014 Preseason Week 2

20.8

174.4

“The way the game’s being officiated now is the way it’s going to be officiated when the season begins,” Blandino said ...

It's ridiculous.
