Do you think Storm Johnson can win the RB job from Toby Gerhart?

#1

Gerhart is a straight line runner, and he runs upright much like Tony George.  Johnson has some wiggle and can crease a defense much like Shady McCoy up in Philly.

So what do you guys think?  I understand contractually that Gerhart owns the RB job as of now, but do you think if Storm Johnson tears it up in the preseason that he could be the feature back by mid season.

Remember when Fred Taylor got hurt then Greg Jones got hurt, MJD stepped up and stole the show.

I think storm Johnson is a lot more like gerhart than McCoy.

If gerhart gets hurt and misses significant time, its possible. I don't see it this season but I think storm is the running back of the future.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Let the best man win.  I personally think it's easily Gerharts job.  If storm johnson can do it better than he deserves the nod and is a homerun pick.

I would doubt it happening this season....but in a couple years down the line? Yes. I think over the next couple years Storm will in essence be like what MoJo was to Fred in 2006/ 2007...

I think Storm will be used as a receiver out of the backfield primarily to start off.  He'll have some opportunities to make plays, and if he does, he could slide into an early career path similar to MJD.  I wouldn't expect him to supplant Toby on Toby's current contract unless Toby just busts.  I think best case would be splitting carries for 3 years and then taking over if he's proven himself.

At this point, no. And I'm a big Storm fan.

I'd say more like Rashad Jennings with a little better cutback ability.

I honestly dont think he will be the star running back for the jags, I think he can be more like Jennings was with MJD and be the solid back up. I would love to be wrong tho!

I think if we get 3-4 good quality players out of this draft we did good. Lets just be realistic about how many players actually pan out and how many picks there actually are.

Shady McCoy? Are you serious?

Its Gerhart, and if Gerhart gets hurt, Toddman will start.

I like Storm as much as the next guy, but lets see if he can make it more than an offseason in the NFL before we predict him taking someone's job.

I also think Drob will get some carries behind Gerhorse prior to storm getting them.

Lol...night and day. As a matter of fact, Drob is a shiftier rb than Storm and a better comparison to Shady

Where the heck did all this praise or even potential come from in regards to Storm Johnson?

I've heard nothing from him in OTA's or minicamp performance wise.

I don't think Storm will be good enough to carry the rock by himself, but when Kelvin Taylor arrives he'll be a nice compliment.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

Tony George? I think he runs more like Eddie Dorsett.

Anybody think Storm Johnson could make the Pro Bowl this year? He reminds me alot of Luke Kuechly, if Kuechly was a running back and black.

I think a more realistic question right now should be "does Johnson make the regular roster as a seventh round draft pick or does he go to the practice squad?"  The numbers seem to favor him.  The key for him this year will be how he plays on special teams as he's probably 4th on the depth chart heading into the season.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Not right now, but I do see Storm Johnson being a playmaker. He could/should be the starter in a few years if things go well for him.

Toby is/was/will be the number 1 RB barring (not gonna say it).

Only a chump boos the home team!
