Browns Fan Urinate on Art Modell's grave

#21

Quote:  I believe this is the case.  Yet,  despite this,  the Cleveland Browns fan base had the long term fortunate of keeping the Browns nickname,  team colors,  and history.   There isn't another NFL fan base that lost a franchise that's as fortunate as the Cleveland Browns fan base from the standpoint of maintaining the links to their past.   For that reason,   it doesn't make sense for a significant part of their fan base still being focused on Art Modell.

I think that's the dark side of extreme fans - as much as they profess love for the team and franchise, etc., some of these people really seem to have a need to hate something or someone.

For me at least, it takes some of the fun out of enjoying sports to read all the hatred expressed for other teams and fans. I mean the people who really mean it, who aren't just kidding around.

It seems to be the worst regarding college football. There are some serious loons out there.

I agree with this post.

A good rivalry is fun. When it starts to get hateful and violent, its wayyyy crossed the line.

Sports are supposed to be a mere diversion from real life issues. Its supposed to be entertainment. Some people have gotten out of control with how serious they take it.

The way they call it going to war, and make the game life and death even at the little league level fuels this with young men.

Some men never grow out of it.

An illustration of what you mentioned is that during the World Cup Soccer semifinals match in which Germany beat Brazil 7-1 in Brazil,  the German fans needed to be safely escorted away from the Brazil fans that attended the match.   If this isn't a loss of perspective,  I don't know what is.

I've heard stories of fights by adults actually breaking out at Little League games.   I feel for the children of these so called parents.

I've seen it first hand coaching my sons six year old league, that's right six year olds. Had an organization we played suit up 9 and 10 year olds against our 5 and 6 year olds than the parents proceeded to try and pick fights with our parents it was a disgusting situation. Thankfully the league stepped in and removed that association from the league.

I'm glad to see the league take action.   The difference between a 5 and 6 year old,  compared to a 9 and 10 year old,  is substantially to say the least.   For their parents to act the way they did,   it wouldn't surprise me if their children have major issues in their teens and beyond.

When putting a team of 9 and 10 year olds against a team of 5 and 6 year olds,   I don't even consider it winning if as expected the older team easily scores more runs.   It's one thing for a 5 or 6 year old to be on a team with older children if he has very advanced skills.   It's another to put an entire team of 5 and 6 year olds against a team 4 or 5 years older.

yea it was pretty disgusting, when they checked in I new something wasn't right it wasn't until long after the game we found out they had suited up at least 3 different 9 or 10 year old's during the game. Someone caught it on camera oddly enough.

The really sad and frustrating thing was those 9 and 10 year old's wheren't even told to block they where sent in to try and hurt some of our kids? I couldn't believe it they'd look for the 2 or 3 talented kids and just look to hit them before, after during the play it didn't matter.

And then they become youth league coaches!

Actually most of the youth league coaches I know try and calm down that talk, it's the parents that push the life and death narrative. Some of these parents think they push their cards hard enough they'll make it to the pro's and become mommy and daddy's meal ticket.

We did have a few coaches that took the going to battle stance however, so I can't deny it's there on the coaching side as well.

I take it you're talking about Pop Warner Football, not Little League Baseball, although I've seen some real winners coaching Little League Baseball.

I'm ok with it.  Modell screwed the Browns fans over big time.

It's only urine.

Now if he'd actually been still alive, THAT would have been disgraceful.
