Domino’s Charges Teen $300K for Pizza

A teenager who ordered a pizza from Domino’s ended up with a massive overdraft charge on his bank account after a cashier accidentally charged him more than $300,000.

What's really absurd is that there isn't any kind of automatic rejection of that kind of charge to his account.   I would think a pizza joint would not have authorization over a few hundred British pounds.   How can the bank not have controls in place to stop a draft of that amount?   If I were the bank president I would have a serious investigation over the lack of controls.

Yea that's more of a mistake on his banks end as well, it'll be easily resolved. I know if someone ever tried to draft 300,000 from my account they would just laugh at them.

From what I heard the code used to verify the payment online was accidentally added to the end of the amount transferred. And the kid already got his money back plus another 100 pounds as an apology.

Damn that's a whole lot more then he'd get over here! I remember a "bank error" sent my account in the red one time and it took them MONTHS just to refund about $200 in overdraft fee's THEY charged me!

My cousin had a similar experience at BOA.... And she got a refund check from that class action suit they filed because BOA liked to screw over customers.

Credit Unions are where it's at!!

I joined the Vystar credit union but I haven't used them yet. My work we don't have direct deposit and it's impossible to get away so PNC (which I'm starting to grow tired of) has this handy take a picture of your check and deposit it over the phone app that keeps me coming back to them.

Vystar is da bomb.  I do all my banking and loans through them.  They would be servicing my mortgage too had they been able to match Wells Fargo's rates, but alas...

It's a very good organization.  I had all my children set up with accounts there once they got old enough.

That kind of overcharge is just inexcusable anyway you look at it.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
