Hi,

I am coming to the Fulham v DC United game on July 26th. Can someone give me advice about hotels and getting to the stadium.  Also what to do in Jacksonville and what areas to avoid!!

Cheers

Stay at or near the beach and drive to the stadium. You should be fine.

look for the hart bridge on beach or the Arlington expressway  on atlantic

I love how America's reputation precedes her. It's not the places you should see, but the areas to avoid. Gotta love it. Smile

True. They're probably certain there is a good chance of getting shot.

There is, but you're going to need a rental car anyway and getting to and from the stadium in a car is a lot easier than relying on a shuttle.

Jacksonville and the surrounding areas are extremely spread out.  While there is public transportation, it is not the most efficient / easy way to travel about the city (once, when I was in college I decided to start taking the bus  and it was going to take me 2 hrs to go 4 miles).  You will definently want to get a car.

As for hotels, anything down at the beach is good.  I got married at the Sea Turtle Inn in Atlantic Beach (just north of Jax Beach) and it was a nice place.  There are numerous hotels in Jacksonville Beach.  This will allow you to stay at the beach (one of the city's best assets) and have easy access via a short drive to St. Augustine (South on A1A, if you want a nice day trip) as well as a short drive to the stadium.

EDIT:  ***I think they changed the Sea Turtle Inn's name to One Ocean Resort***
