Strength of Schedule?
|
Sorry I just blank on understanding something so please don't bash me...just need help remembering how this works.
I read an ESPN article this morning that said we are projected for the 4th pick and the Bears are projected for the 3rd pick now. We have the same record but they get the 3rd pick based off strength of schedule. I just looked at the strength of schedule and we were tied for 23rd hardest strength of schedule (0.473) this year while the Bears were tied for 30th hardest strength of schedule (0.461). So why aren't we the ones that are getting the 3rd pick and they should be at the 4th spot because we had a harder strength of schedule? I'm confused...sorry for the dumb blanking out moment. This is the link I am using that pulled up strength of schedule for 2016: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...-each-team We show less advertisements to registered users. Thanks but I don't understand that...why wouldn't it be the one who had the harder schedule?
The team with the weaker strength of schedule picks before the team with the stronger strength of schedule. The reason being, they did less with the schedule that they had, hence in essence they had a worse record.

One other thing though, why does the article mention the Jaguars SOS being .536 and the Bears SOS being .525? The latest SOS percentages I saw were from the article I posted above from back in April? Where are they getting these different numbers from? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Ok that actually does make a little more sense. Thank you D6! My pleasure, Brett. The numbers from that article are the Strength of Schedule based on the 2015 results. In terms of the 2017 Draft, tiebreakers will be based on the Strength of Schedule based on the 2016 results. Those results can be calculated at this time through the 239 NFL regular season games that have been played. There are still 17 more NFL regular season games to be played. Once those are completed, the final strength of schedule numbers will be complete. Quote: My pleasure, Brett. You're the man! Thanks a lot!
Another article suggested that the SOS could still swing in our favour and it is still very close.
But I think the Bears could probably beat the Vikings, with the way the Vikes are playing right now. So it might be irrelevant.
Quote:Another article suggested that the SOS could still swing in our favour and it is still very close. Don't count on it. Matt Barkley threw 5 interceptions Saturday. Not only that, but the Colts could very well sit Andrew Luck, meaning we'd face Scott Tolzein. I believe we will beat Indianapolis and the Bears will lose. What is our sos against the Jets and the Rams? If we win and they lose, they could have the same record as us. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Whether we have the 3rd pick or the 6th pick in this draft, it doesn't make that much of a difference as we'll be out of reach of Allen and Garrett either way. From there it's just a matter of preference of who you like more.

Quote:SF has Armstead and Buckner. Dont see them going Allen. New York had Sheldon Richardson and Muhammad Wilkerson and they still took Leonard Williams. Besides, if the Niners pass on him, the Bears will surely take him. They're still ahead of us.

As bad as the Jags have been its hard to believe they don't sit in the number 1 draft spot, just let that sink in

Yep and look at them now they have to offload Richardson. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:i could easily Chi taking Trubisky Trubisky hasn't even declared yet, as far as I know. If he doesn't, I doubt any QB's get taken until the late first round. Even if he did, that would be a huge risk for any team to take him in the top 10. The kid has been good, but he's only a 1 year starter as an underclassman and at times, he's been shaky. From the eyeball test, he would really benefit from staying in school another year. On top of that, I expect us to fall even further in the draft, because I'm calling it here. We will beat the Colts. Quote:Yea they might reach for a QB I don't think so. I'm watching Mitch Trubisky right now and he's supposed to be the most highly rated eligible QB for the 2017 draft. He's not impressing at all. I see mental lapses and some really poor throws at times. It would be a disaster if he left early. He needs to stay in school and develop. He's not nearly ready for the NFL. After him, there's no other QB who even belongs in the first round conversation. I look for teams to overpay for guys like Glennon, McCarron and Garoppolo, because this QB class is so weak. |
