Team success will equal more visibility which will equal more individual recognition for players. People forget we had multiple pro-bowlers in the glory years of the 90s. It didn't hurt that they were really good players either.

I like Cyprien, but I have to admit being a little bias towards our "new" team. This building process has been anticipation(ly) exciting. It feels different in a good way.

He was a guy I was hoping the Cowboys drafted...alot of fans wanted him and that team has needed safeties for years.  I think the improved pass rush will help the enitre secondary...as they say.  He is one of my favorites on the team, along with Poz.

I think he is closer to leapfrogging over Polamalu sooner rather than later, simply because I don't think Polamalu will remain healthy or effective for much longer.


What I want to see from Cyprien are the big plays. More fumbles forced, fumbles recovered, pass breakups, TFLs, sacks, interceptions...

We know he will get a ton of tackles, but can he improve in those big plays? I believe he can and he will.

He certainly has the work ethic to be a pro bowler. Dude is built like a tank, it's insane. Does it count as a pass break up if a receiver touches the ball but doesn't maintain possession through a hit? I think that will be his main contribution. No one will want to take a shot from him

I doubt he'll make it unless his stats are undeniably great. Because the Jags aren't a very popular team aand he's not a very popular player outside of Jacksonville.

 

 In addition to what you mentioned,   a major disadvantage of any Jaguars player this season regarding getting Pro Bowl recognition is they will be on National TV much lesser than many other teams.   In the AFC,  players from Denver,  New England,  and Indianapolis have a major advantage in getting to the Pro Bowl because they are on National TV frequently.   A year or two from now,  there's a good chance most of the NFL world will likely recognize the Jaguars players that are playing at a Pro Bowl caliber level.

I love Fred, but to be honest, there were very few instances that would qualify as a pro bowl snub for Fred. A lot of times, his injuries would keep his numbers just low enough to put him beneath the 3 top AFC RB's....enough so that you could actually make legitimate arguments against Fred making the pro bowls in a lot of those years. Was there a legit snub or 2? I'm sure there was....but most of that is because the Jags were simply a bad team during many of those years too. More pro bowl players come from playoff level teams than not as a general rule anyway. 

 

If the Jags get good and Bortles becomes the real deal, I can almost guarantee you that the Jags will have multiple pro bowl players perennially for a while.
