Falcons' Weatherspoon ruptures Achilles; done for 2014
|
per rotoworld:
Falcons WLB Sean Weatherspoon suffered a ruptured Achilles' tendon on Tuesday, and is out for the season. Weatherspoon suffered the injury as he rehabbed the knee ailment that hobbled him in 2013. He'll undergo surgery in the "near future." It's a crippling blow for a defense that was ravaged by injury and a lack of depth last season. GM Thomas Dimitroff added only band aids in the draft and free agency. The Falcons have no good options to replace their starting weak-side linebacker, who has missed 12 combined games over the past two seasons. Fourth-rounder Prince Shembo could be forced into heavy snaps. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, Weatherspoon will now enter free agency as an injury-prone 27 year old. The Falcons are going to be in weekly shootouts, much like the Jason Garrett-era Cowboys. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote: How good is Sean Weatherspoon? I haven't kept up with him.
THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.
RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.
I think Weatherspoon had a nice first couple years. He looked like a guy on the cusp of being great.
But he just cannot stay healthy.
I figured the OP would be making recommendations as to which player the Jags should be trading to Atlanta to help them out.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

They are going to more of a 3-4 look (why I don't know). I'm not sure that Witherspoon was a 3-4 LB. Unless I have missed a contract extension he may have signed, Witherspoon may be a free agent in another year or two, and an asset to a 4-3 team. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:Sucks for them. That Achilles injury is going to be a big concern moving forward. The guy can't catch a break. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Nah,.....well, the thought might have crossed my mind... ![]() but they aren't a match for a trade. He doesn't play Poz' position. Quote:Too easy. and, No I don't want them to trade Poz either....but as was said before, if an opportunity ever came up where another team was desperate and willing to overpay, thats where you consider it. |
