I don't remember the "Fix it Felix jr" (that he has amongst his games) in any arcade I went to as a kid...
Does anyone remember that one?? Quote:Meet the game-obsessed man, 37, who spent $32,000 turning his bedroom in a 1980s arcade... but (unsurprisingly) lost his fiancee along the wayMeh. Fiancees are overrated. If she didn't share his passion, he's better off. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
He's got Tron, which was a pretty cool game from that era. But, Ms. Pac Man is overkill since he has Pac Man? Eh. At least go with Pac Man.
A game like Defender, Space Invaders, Asteroids, or Tetris would have been pretty cool. I've warned my daughter that when she moves out I was going to convert her room into something like this. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Bezerk was a good one.
I always enjoyed Space Duel. Two man game where you were linked together until you got shot. Then it was a lot like a 2 man version of Asteroids, which we always loved playing. When Putt Putt on Beach Blvd. put in a game room, that was one of the more popular games. Then they upped the ante by adding the rapid fire feature. Many a quarter was spent on that machine. Probably could have bought it 2 or 3 times over for what I spent. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I've never been a video game player. The only ones I got any modicum of enjoyment out of were Asteroid and Caterpillar. The appeal of the fighting games completely escaped me.
Agreed, although Punch Out was pretty entertaining.
Body blow! Body blow! There was another ninja style game from that era I can't recall the name of that wasn't half bad. You either fought against another opponent or you went up against the machine. Once you learned the button combos, fighting the computer itself got boring. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Caterpillar? you mean Centipede? Oh. Yeah, that's it. I was always more of a pinball fan.

Quote:No, it was Kung Fu. I have a vague memory of that one... but appreciate all the contributions to this thread. Makes for a nice trip down memory lane. I practically used live at the arcades on the boardwalk as a young teen. Quote:Mr. Doo's Magic Castle and Bump n Jump were my favs.. Spy Hunter too.Spy Hunter, Galaga, Centipede, Donkey Kong, Q-Bert were my go-to games at the arcade. Any 904 people remember the pizza joint in the shopping center at the corner of Ft Caroline and University? They used to have a good little game room when these games were new. |
