Hate to hear about any animal having to be put to sleep, but in this case it had to be done. Still amazed that in that situation the cat was that instinctual and pretty much acted in the role of the "dog"....Also amazed that the "mom" just left her kid there and wen't back in the house after initially coming to his aid...

I wonder if he had distemper? I think the really scary thing is that there finding a distemper like illiness in big cats (lions, cougars etc) making them fearless In the presence of humans. Very scary

I thought distemper just made them cough a lot...gave then a really icky, sometimes deadly cold. Or am I thinking of something else?

Yeah that's pretty much distemper. Its like a more serious case of kennel cough.
