Bortles needs to work on his ball handling.

Watching all his game cut ups I've noticed him fumbling it without being touched on multiple occasions.. That's really gotta stop before he starts for us.. That's one trait that Gabbert had as well, of course it was over shadowed by all his other issues.

Was his tongue sticking out then, too?

You have to remember, he never had a QB coach. All his mechanics can only go up.

He needs to watch some old Iverson tape to work on that ball handling.

Man that brings back good memories, back in the day when I used to watch the NBA, such a sick crossover.

He should contact Tajh Boyd.  Because on QB camp, Gruden had high praise for his ... ball handling.

I think its a lesser issue.  Often ball security is one of the easier things to teach. Unless he starts letting the ball slip from his hands when taking the snap or fumbling when drawing back to throw then its pretty easy to teach better ball security when running.

Now if you are seeing him drop the ball when drawing back on his release thats a more serious issue IMO. That said i havent seen much of it from him.

The QB coach will work with him to ensure he protects the ball, but I am more worried about his deep throws and accuarcy.

(This post was last modified: 05-15-2014, 12:55 PM by InmanRoshi.)

Footwork is his biggest issue.   I read that he was already working with Jordan Palmer trying to improve it during the pre-draft process.    It was amazing he was as accurate as he was in college with footwork that bad.  Any vanilla drop or shot gun set the footwork was servicable,  but any play where he had to make play fakes or pumps his footwork got all sorts of wonky.     Most of the really bad throws I've seen from his tape are situations where his base was way too wide and he was throwing with all torso and wasn't able to properly step into or follow through on his throws.

Maybe he needs to start wearing gloves Ninja
