Gus is all about competition. He wants to see players competing all the way and when guys like Teddy back out of it, that raises red flags imo.

The lesson that should be learned is NFL teams dont love average sized QBs unless they have off the chart athletic skills or a big time arm. Teddy has none of those.

other than measurables what elite traits does Bortles have? At least Teddy has good grasp of the gsme and didn't come from a shotgun offense

If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

I love, love, love the way he plays late in games and how he always seemed to rise to the occasion. I believe that it's something that you won't get from watching cut ups but has to be seen live where you can witness the tension build and the drama unfold. He's a gamer and I like that. Let's hope that translates to this next level.

so does Bridgewater. I'm just not convinced Blake will do better in the pros.

If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

100% agree here. I hated the pick at first, but have warmed up to it. It seems pretty obvious that he was going at 4 if he didn't go at 3, and he likely wouldn't have dropped past 8. Apparently, he was multiple teams' top rated QB. Gotta love the pre-draft season...so much posturing it's ridiculous.

We worked out Bridgewater twice. Pretty sure the Jags know him better than any of us, yet they convincingly took Bortles over him.

I didn't hate it, but I was stunned. I've come around to really liking it though.

He has the size. And clearly he has enough intangibles that Dave liked. But if he wasn't 6'5 I guarantee you he wouldn't be drafted that high. Go back 10 years and tell me which first rounders and specifically top 10-15 picks that didn't have the build, the arm or athletic ability? There just aren't many... if any. Alex Smith comes to mind but even he played in an offense that showcased what athletic ability he had.

Teddy just doesn't have any elite physical traits and rare are the successful NFL QBs without. Rare enough to scare teams from drafting one high.,

My lesson is that there is a part to the draft process that we as fans and draftniks just don't know and will never be a part of. Time to get off the high horse, sit down, shut up and be a fan. Let the guys who get paid worry and draft the guys our team needs.
