Texans, Jags, Browns and Vikings -- fans can be happy now

#1

I guess everyone should be happy with their guy now.

Texans got the best pure talent in this draft, though, I believe they BADLY wanted to trade out of this pick but couldn't because they wanted a nice package for him, but Clowney is a DE and not a franchise QB.  Now all that's left is to search for their Andy Dalton. lol.  If not, Texans fans will soon learn first hand on why their QB earned the nickname Ryan Fritztragic.

Jags potentially could get a franchise QB out of Bortles.  Though, I think he's taken a little too high.  If reports were true that Manziel was the #1 QB on the Vikings' and Browns' draft board.  Then I think the Jags could have gotten Mack or Watkins and traded up to the first round for Bortles.  Though, this is hindsight.

The Browns got Justin Gilbert (surprised, surprised?) and Manziel + a 1st round next year.  Personally, I would have prefer Watkins and Manziel.  Looks like Joe Banner and Lombardi actually left the Browns with a nice parting gift -- turning draft bust Trent Richardson into a 1st round pick.  Manziel will create a spark for the Browns, and of the three QBs, he'll have the best chance to start simply because of how polarizing he is.

The Vikings snagged some great value players in Anthony Barr and Bridgewater.  I think that analysts placed too much on his build, but I can understand why he slided in the draft.  However, I'm still a firm believer that TB is the most pro ready and landed in the best scenerio for him.  He can't ask for a better situation than to learn from Matt Cassell and has good offensive weapons + AP for when he takes over.

I think the 'conviction' Caldwell said he had for Bortles was a masked insult toward the Texans. Texans wanted their QB to be Bortles, but lacked the conviction to take him over Clowney. I'm convinced we finally have found our franchise QB, whereas the Texans continue to ignore their true problem

You can't pass up on Clowney if the choice was between Clowney vs another prospect. I do agree that they missed their chance to trade up in the late first and grab either Manziel or Bridgewater.

I don't know about that. What game did you watch last year that showed you Clowney was the best player in this draft? Clowney could very well be Derrick Hervey all over again. He seems like he's not ready for the hype and might not turn out. I  think a lot of people have been tricked by the hype machine.
