Clowney a lock at one?

Regardless of whether or not Houston makes the selection, is it a lock that Clowney goes first overall?

If Clowney isn't, then who?
Only a chump boos the home team!

I don't think it's ever a lock when the most talented player in the draft isn't a QB. That being said, I can't see any team passing up on Clowney. The talent gap between him and everyone else is just too great

If I'm Houston I am thinking Clowney makes my defense, which is already pretty good, even better. Then,I start the season with Fitzpatrick and start my QB, likely the top pick of the second round, mid season if things are just going ok, or not at all if playoffs are still a possibility. IMHO Fitzpatrick is good enough to keep a team with their talent in playoff contention by midseason. So, yes, it must be Clowney.

Facing Clowney and Watt will not be enjoyable.

True, but no worse than Freeney and Mathis. Houston also doesn't have Manning to get an early 14 point lead so as to let the pass rushers tee off on our QB.

Drafting Matthews would counter it, as well.
