Joel Bitonio: draft sleeper at Center?

ESPN's Adam Caplan expects Nevada OL Joel Bitonio to be a top-50 selection in next week's draft.

That's on the safe side. Bitonio's stock has been steadily on the rise the past month-plus. Caplan reports most teams think Bitonio can play left tackle, right tackle, and both guard spots. Bitonio himself said teams view him as a guard or center. He worked out at all five positions at his Pro Day. Bitonio has a legitimate shot to go at the end of the first round. The Panthers are reportedly high on him.

Would one of our resident message board scouts like to shed some light on this year's most intriguing OL prospect?

I like him a lot, and I think he would be a good player everywhere except LT. He doesn't quite have the feet for that I don't think. He is very versatile though, as the RW blurb suggests.

I am sure he would be a good C because virtually anyone who is good outside can be good inside, but I don't know how I would compare him to Martin or Richburg. I would probably lean toward taking one of those other two at 39 if interior oline is where Dave is wanting to go with that pick. Assuming all 3 are available of course. It's not out of the realm of possibility that all 3 are gone by 39.

If we were taking a center convert I might prefer Trai Turner.

Mmmmm, I'm praying he falls to the 4th and is our pick. He's the Larry Warford lite of this draft to me. Plug him in at RG and just let him go to work for a decade.

Didn't LSU lose Mettenberger for the season with a torn ACL?
