As most of you have also, I've been reading a lot lately that the Bucs will most likely trade Mike Glennon.

Say we can't trade down in round 1, and we pass on a QB in rounds 1 and 2 due to other needs and no good QB fit at our picks.  Also assume for this scenario that Tampa takes a QB at #7 overall, and wants to trade Glennon on the start of day two, would you give them a 3rd round pick for Glennon?  Maybe our two 4ths?

 

Glennon was drafted in the 3rd round, and looked pretty solid.  Good size, good arm. He now has a year under his belt with extensive playing time.

 

I think I would do it.  We could still draft another QB to deveiop in the 4th or 5th.

Rnd 2 - WR A. Robinson or C. Latimer

Rnd 3 - Trade for Glennon

Rnd 4 - QB Aaron Murray or A.J. McCarron or Tahj Boyd (creeping back up boards after Pro Day)

Rnd 4 - TE Crockett Gillmore, Colorado St

Rnd 5 - OG Charles Leno, Boise St

Rnd 5 - RB Storm Johnson or Rajio

Rnd 5 - ILB Avery Williamson, Kentucky

Rnd 6 - C Bryan Stork, FSU

Rnd 6 - WR Jeff Janis, Saginaw Valley St

Rnd 7 - CB Shaquille Richardson, Arizona

 

Edit:  Hmm, I honestly did not see this mock involving a trade for Glennon (to Arizona) until after I came up with the idea for this post.  After reading that, change the pick it would cost us to a 4th round selection.

I would trade a 3rd/4th for Glennon. At least he's shown what he can do, I'm just worried that he may turn out to be a "system quarterback," and not a game changing one.

 

I like the idea of picking another QB in the 4th round. Gives nice competition at the position and a whole season to test if any of the QB's drafted can be long term.

Really guys?  What QB are you going to get in the 3rd that would be better and a "game changer", especially if they had to play this season?  None.

 

Look at it this way, we'd be getting a "rookie QB" with almost a year of NFL experience....for a 3rd round pick and we have 10 other picks, one of which could be a pretty good QB prospect in the 4th probably.

 

I'm pretty sure some of you guys were talking about Glennon being a 1st or 2nd round prospect last year at one point.

I wouldn't trade a 3rd (nor would I trade a 4th or 5th) for Mike Glennon.  He's not worth that to me.  If they cut him I'd look into signing him or if they'd take a late round pick I'd entertain it but I don't see Glennon ever developing into anything other than your run of the mill NFL QB.  He'd get us the same results as Chad Henne and Henne doesn't cost a pick in a trade.

Wow.  Not better than what we have now in Henne? 

 

Henne had 13 TD and 14 INT with a 76 QB rating.

 

Glennon had 19 TD and 9 INT with 83 QB rating....as a ROOKIE and a bad team around him.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot.  This is the same group that argued Mark Sanchez with twice as  many interceptions was better than David Garrard in 2009 and 2010.  LOL.

I'd give them a fourth for sure if they'd take it.  Don't give them "full price" by giving them a third.

Might could get him for a 4th or maybe even a 5th.  You know Tampa will be desperate to get anything and not have to release him if they draft a QB at #7.  This is from the article about a scenario where Arizona trades for him:

 

"Glennon's best known for having a strong arm (and a big neck). He has one of the stronger arms of the quarterbacks in the past two drafts and spins an excellent deep ball. That fits with Bruce Arians' offense, which calls for vertical routes that stretch the field. Arians definitely won't ask Glennon to run any read-option plays.

The cost wouldn't be prohibitive. If Manziel comes to Tampa -- and that's still a big if, although it happens below -- the Bucs will want to move Glennon pretty quickly. The Cards could pick up the phone, offer a fourth-round pick and that deal's getting hammered out quickly.

It's possible Glennon could be had for less than that if the deal happened after Manziel was taken; at that point the Bucs' hand will be shown. A fifth-round pick for a guy who showed flashes like Glennon did last year?

The Jags had three chances to draft Glennon last year, and they passed each time. Being that he wasn't a world-beater as a rookie, I don't see how they'd be willing to cough up a third-round pick for him this year, especially if Tampa drafts a QB and makes it a buyer's market for him.

Last year the Jags were desperate for a starting OT and starting DB's.  They had to draft what they did in the first 3 rounds.  I don't know if they liked Glennon at all last year, but they really couldn't draft him if you go round by round.

 

Plus, I said change the offter to one of our 4th round picks...and draft a QB with the other.

If the Bucs don't want him, they'll eventually release him. He will have to clear waivers because of his time in the league. If the Jags wanted him, they could simply claim him off of waivers. I don't think anyone is going to cough up anything more than a late rounder for the guy. If we're talking a sixth or seventh rounder, sure, but nothing higher than that.
