Draft Capital; Jacksonville has the fourth most
|
Bill Barnwell of Grantland and a longtime contributor to Football Outsiders did a write up of which teams have the most capital in the upcoming draft based off of an approximate draft value chart (and it's not Jimmy Johnson's version either). According to him, Jacksonville clocks in at number four.
<p style="margin-left:40px;">"... <p style="margin-left:40px;">4. Jacksonville Jaguars (66.3 points of Approximate Value) Traded Away: None Acquired: 4th-, two 5th-, 6th-round picks (all trades) <p style="margin-left:40px;"> <p style="margin-left:40px;">The Jaguars need just about everything except a left tackle and a wide receiver, and they might take Sammy Watkins anyway. If Houston takes a quarterback and the Rams don’t trade down or have interest in Clowney, Jacksonville could have the South Carolina defensive end sitting in its lap. The Jags could very well then field a godfather offer from somebody like Atlanta to move down three spots, where they could draft a quarterback and have multiple future picks with which to rebuild ..."

I blame Roger Goodell for this. Clearly NFLN needed more commercial time, so he made sure the Jaguars would get more picks.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

The Colts are dead last with 17.6.
The Texans are first with around 4200 The Jags have just just under 4000 Based on the approximate trade value on how many draft picks we have and where our picks fall. In other words, we have 11 picks and a ton of ammo. We can go up or down if we need to. Can't say enough about how good Caldwell and Bradley are running the show Parlay this along with our strong FA class and current roster, and the Jagsare sitting pretty! This front office has proven to be very smart in how they have managed their draft picks. That number could go up even further with a trade down from #3, especially if they have a team like Atlanta craving Clowney, or Dallas coveting Manziel.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
