<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">"I had the skill set to be a starter from the onset, but I was playing behind one of the best in the game," Gerhart recently said of Adrian Peterson, per The Florida Times-Union. "I've gotten comfortable with the speed of the game, but don't have the wear and tear on my body of someone carrying it 250 times a year.

<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">"I think I'm in a unique situation. Even though it's my fifth year in the league, I can come in and be a dominant guy. I'm ready for my shot now."

I think he would be considered a bust if he doesn't.

I hope he can average 65 yards a game to get 1,000. Because if he can't, he definitely was not worth the money.

Hey Toby, I really hope so...

But I'd rather you just shut yer yap and let the play on the field do the talking. So tired of hearing players in all sports talk a good game and the results fail to live up to the talk. Big talk is just talk, unless....yer backing it up.

He's a competent back that will do well if he has a line in front to open holes.  How Dave handles the center and guard issues will have a bearing on the success of Gerhart.

Absolute truth there.

I hope he's right. It's good to hear he's confident in his ability to get the job done. We will know soon enough his that translates on the field.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

It is a very unique situation. Their is no one really like him. He has the experience, he's done well as a runner, catcher, and blocker. Learned from the best, and has absolutely zero wear and tear with fresh legs. Hopefully our o line can run block well this year. Our center and guard from the draft is key.

I think with the changes coming for the offense, he's going to be a good fit, providing veteran experience, and a good outlet for our QBs.

I don't think he would. We didn't spend a high draft pick or pay him a lot. low risk high reward type signing.

Its very similar to when the Falcons added Michael Turner several years ago.

nice to see him confidence. I kinda doubt anyone is gonna remember what he said in the off season and it gets fans excited so I see no problem with it.

I thought the comments from Vikings supporters were interesting. They all seem sad to see him go and think he will be good for us.

That's because he's done nothing but run hard when AP couldn't go. If he was coming out of the draft this year he'd be the top RB on the board. He was great in college, very good in his role behind AP and I don't see that changing now.

I think he can be good. Maybe not great like MJD was for that few year span, but he can be an above average RB.

I hate when people say learned from the best to the RB position.

Quick, who suceeded Barry Sanders and Emmit Smith?

RB is about instincts.  I can tell you which kids in pop warner have the skills to be a future RB a the HS level and who doesn't just at that age.   It's about instincts, hitting the hole, and some natural born gifts that you can't teach.

Toby reminds me of heavier Craig James.  Let's face it, when you run a 4.53 there's only so much you can do.
