Over the final months leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft, there have been a lot of reports of Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater falling lower than expected on draft day. They've become more commonplace with each passing week. 

This isn't news to teams though. They've told us that the national media is simply catching up, and that it has overrated Bridgewater during his collegiate career and throughout the draft process. 

We've reached out to many teams about Bridgewater, and all have been down on him. Perhaps the most glaring response we've heard came from an executive with an NFC playoff team that has no need for a starting quarterback. They have their franchise signal-caller, but they could use a reserve, so we asked this executive his thoughts on some quarterbacks, including Bridgewater. 

The NFC executive said that he thought Bridgewater was a "fourth-round guy" and will fall out of the first round. He said that there isn't anything exceptional about Bridgewater's skill set, as he doesn't have an elite arm, size or mobility. Because of that, he felt that Bridgewater is a fourth-round talent. 

Another scouting director picking in the top 20 that could consider a quarterback told us that his team never had Bridgewater as a first-round pick. They said he's carried a second-round grade throughout the process. They still have him as a second-round pick after his much-maligned pro day. 

Sources from three teams in the top 10 have told us that they have Blake Bortles and Derek Carr graded ahead of Bridgewater. One team also has A.J. McCarron rated ahead of Bridgewater. 

Six different franchises, including those three in the top 10, have said they believe that Bridgewater is going to fall much lower than expected on draft day and could easily drop out of the first round because teams aren't grading him as a first-round pick.

Think this NFC exec is wrong and I wonder what teams have Carr rated over Teddy. That is laughable to me. Perhaps the NFL people still care more about measurables than game tape.

With the spotlight on them both all year, both Teddy and Johnny had the best seasons of their careers. Nothing's changed. Combines, measurables, private workouts mean very little. Nope, nope, nope. I honestly agree with everything except the last line, I feel like both Bortles and Johnny may go ahead of him, not that they should, but they might.

We all know TB had a poor Pro Day for whatever reason. I tend to think he was nervous at the start and after missing his wideouts and throwing some wobbly looking passes, it just never got any better for him.

 

With that said, I don't think there is anyway in heck he lasts to the 4th rd. NONE. There are just too many QB starved teams for him to last that long.

 

TB lasting into the 4th rd. lol. Now that's just ridiculous. His stock might be dropping right now, but it won't be dropping him into the 4th rd, you can bet on that.

There is nothing special about Bridgewater.  Average arm.  Average to good accuracy.  Small frame.  Not particularly athletic.  Inarticulate, which leads me to believe he is not all that smart.  Played against mediocre competition in college.

Fix the O-Line!

I think that's a bit overblown. I do agree that a first is too high to get T.B. but I would be very happy if the Jags got him at #39. I think he could be decent, given a year or two to acclimate to the NFL game and more importantly, grow a little bit, physically.

He's small in personality, too.  Disappears in a room, instead of standing out.  Think of how many franchise QBs fit that profile.

Agree.  Given it's Walterfootball, they must be expecting we take him with our second or trade back up late in the first.

 

That way, they can continue to bash the Jaguars like they love to do for taking him "too soon."  Otherwise, catching him after falling would be nice value for the risk.  So, getting this in ahead of time they can bash the pick anyway if it were to actually happen.
