If the season started today who would be your starting DEFENSE

#1

I think Cyph is ready to be one of the defensive captains.  I think this is his year where everything around him slows down and he can read and react and just play football and cause havoc and get some turnovers for us.

So with that I want to see what your think the defense would look like before the draft in a few weeks.

DE - Clemons

DT - Hood

DT - Marks

DE - Alualu

LB - Watson - I think this guy could shock the NFL, he is a pure LB and will stick you

LB - Poz - Lunch pale worker

LB - ?

CB - Gratz

CB - ?

SS - Cyphrien

FS - Evans

I wasn't sure who to put at LB and CB2.  I didn't want to open up a draft conversation so Ill leave it open for your guys thoughts.

Alualu starter and Branch in rotation or vice versa? What about Babin?  I will confess I am still learning the whole LEO thing.. so not sure how that works...  I think  Cyp will be a captain in 2015..Also hope McCray can play a role.. add our 11 draft picks and things just might be ok in a few years

I hope Ryan Davis makes this team. Kinda don't see it happening though.

I really hope Davis makes the team too!  Question though - since we just paid for Hood - wouldn't he start over Miller - or is that a rotation situation also?

Hood would rotate with Marks - not Miller.  Hood is the right fit for the "3 tech" DT position and doesn't have the right tree-trunkish body type to play the one-tech like Miller or Abry Jones

The numbers refer to where the d-linemen line-up along the gaps in the O-line. Hope this helps...

Alualu would rotate with Bryant as the "non-LEO DE"  (5 tech)  They play more of a runstuffing role but still have some opportunities to rush the passer.

Clemons,Babin, Branch, maybe Davis or a rookie would rotate at LEO and keep fresh legs on the field getting after the QB relentlessly. In obvious passing downs when the Jags want to blitz - you may see more than one LEO out there.

seems to have been forgotten. One of my favs but i think will slip into a rotational role in the coming months

i think at the very least he is a solid depth player

I think right now the starting 11 is

clemons miller marks bryant front 4

allen poz hayes lbs

gratz ball evans cyp

hood will rotate with marks

alualu with bryant

watson with allen

winston guy with evans

clemons will rotate with babin and branch with davis being used for the lightening package

on short yardages like 3rd and 2

it will go to

clemons miller bryant alualu to present a big front 4 against the run

on longer yardage like 3rd and 4

it will go to

clemons hood marks alualu, each can rush the passer whilst alualu and hood can play the run

on longer than that like 3rd and 8 it will go to lightening package of

clemons branch and davis with marks at the line

watson poz and hayes behind

nickel will be blackmon with harris rotating

Miller is a run stopper and blocker occupier.

Hood plays the 3 and 5 technique, so he'd be splitting time with Marks.  But don't be surprised to see Marks and Hood on the field at the same time, in different looks.  You can have Hood, Marks, Miller, and LEO, or Bryant/Alualu Hood Marks LEO.  You could even drop the LEO from either of those line ups and add another linebacker, like Watson (who arguably can be called a LEO), or maybe Mack/rookie?

Bryant has to be starting lol. And our d line will be a constant rotation anyway. Too early to tell pre draft.

Notice if we go with this defense it would be pretty good without injury. I think we are going to really load up on offense this draft. I mean several lineman(G,C) and skill positions(QB,WR)
