Tuxedo's Mock Draft (Early April Edition!)
|
I made this mock draft roughly a week ago and I decided today I'd open it up for the world to see. Keep in mind that these are neither the picks I would personally make if I was in charge of each team, nor are they what I would consider to be the best picks for each team. These are simply who I envision each team picking at the spot they currently hold. Let me know what you think!
1. Houston: Jadeveon Clowney DE South Carolina 2. St. Louis (WSH): Greg Robinson OT Auburn 3. Jacksonville: Sammy Watkins WR Clemson 4. Cleveland: Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M 5. Oakland: Derek Carr QB Fresno State 6. Atlanta: Khalil Mack OLB Buffalo 7. Tampa Bay: Jake Matthews OT Texas A&M 8. Minnesota: Blake Bortles QB Central Florida 9. Buffalo: Mike Evans WR Texas A&M 10. Detroit: Justin Gilbert CB Oklahoma State 11. Tennessee: Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville 12. New York Giants: Eric Ebron TE North Carolina 13. St. Louis: Calvin Pryor S Louisville 14. San Francisco: Kelvin Benjamin WR Florida State 31. Denver: Xavier Su'a-Filo OG UCLA 32. Seattle: Dee Ford DE Auburn https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing I will be making a several more mocks before the draft. Most likely another one towards the end of April and finally two more the day of or the day before the draft. One being a mock using the current draft order and another including any potential trades I foresee. Those will also be added into the Google Doc link above. Wow Carr 5 ( well Oakland is dumb enough) not sure that people are gonna like Bridgewater to Nashville.
Interesting picks. I still think that Manziel and Bridgewater *should go* before any of the other QBs though. Not sure if they will. But if both Carr and Bottles go over Teddy, that will be a travesty, and I will personally be laughing at each of those teams that do.
IMO, any team picking a QB that goes for one in the first round above Johnny and Teddy has made a bad pick. I can understand going for another skill player that's needed, but not another quarterback. That's not to say you're draft-board is wrong. It actually looks pretty possible, if not entirely likely to me. Very nice list.
I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.
My top 6 favorite posters on these boards Deacon Pirkster Shack Del Rio Haterade Hurricane Badger
Congrats.....first mock I've seen Watkins going to us......distinct possibility
Quote:Wow Carr 5 ( well Oakland is dumb enough) not sure that people are gonna like Bridgewater to Nashville. Ideally, I think Oakland would want to trade down in a similar fashion to last year's draft and pick Carr 5-10 spots later. However, trades don't exist in this mock and I think they would pull the trigger on Carr if forced to stay at #5 with Manziel off the board. Schaub should be able to win the starting job and command the team to a mediocre record (6-8 wins) next season. Due to their win now free agency moves, they'll most likely be out of range to pick a top QB next draft, so pick the one you like and is available now. Carr has upside and will be able to sit back, learn the game a bit more this season, and take the reins in 2015. Quote:Interesting picks. Yeah, I think Bridgewater is and will be the best QB in the class, but I feel teams are going to gamble on the unknowns and potential upside of the other QBs like Manziel, Carr, and Bortles over a fairly known commodity in Teddy. You don't take WR in the top 5 unless they are Megatron-like, or unless they are a "final piece" type (which usually doesn't happen much as good teams usually don't have top 5 picks....
Watkins at 3 would be a let down. Watkins after a trade down, I'd have less of a problem with.
Tuxedo, good job putting the Mock Draft together. It's clearly well thought out,
There's one pick that would definitely surprise me: Cleveland taking Jason Varrett with pick # 26. While Varrett should have a bright future in the NFL, his size is a major obstacle for him to go that high in the draft. My gut feeling at this time is Varrett lasts to Round 2. Quote:Tuxedo, good job putting the Mock Draft together. It's clearly well thought out, He's an inch and a half shorter and only one pound lighter than Joe Haden and he also has a 39" vertical leap. Verrett's not the ideal height, but I think he has enough ability to make up for his shortcomings. I was torn between Fuller and Verrett at that spot, but I think Verrett plays more physical and that would better fit Pettine's defense. We show less advertisements to registered users. While a 39" vertical jump is a significant asset for a CB, one thing that Jason Verrett has to overcome along with his height is he has short arms. Joe Haden's arm length is at least 2 inches longer than Verrett's. One major concern I have regarding Verrett as a starting CB in a base Defense is combined with his size, Verrett had a number of injuries on the College Level. With Verrett's physical skill of play, if he's often used in the base Defense instead of primarily as a nickel back, there's a very realistic chance that he won't be able to stay relatively healthy often enough. Just curious, based of the previous 25 picks in my mock, who would you have chosen at #26? Just curious, based of the previous 25 picks in my mock, who would you have chosen at #26? At this point in time, my selection would be Notre Dame DE-DT Stephon Tuitt providing the medical reports are favorable. I like Tuitt's size/ wing span and versatility. That's something which would come in handy in Mike Petttine's Hybrid Defense.

We could draft the 2nd coming and some fans like you would still be complaing . We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! |
