Now I see why the Ravens can afford to keep trading those mid-rounders.

I thought we'd be in the running for one of these considering the folks we let walk (Knighton, Jennings, Cox) ... no?

Cox would've been the only one that would have figured into the formula given the size of the contract he signed in SD but we signed enough FA last year to make it a wash.

I thought the Patriots would get a 3rd for Welker. Also, who did the Cowboys lose to get 3 comp picks?

Is there any structure to this process? Four picks for the Ravens? Seems a bit much.

The formula is to draft players worthy of making it to free agency. Most of our potential free agents were complete duds that ended up getting cut or were traded away before they could hit the market.

The 4 picks show that the ravens have drafted well. Their recent championship shows that too.

I think the whole compensatory system needs to go, why reward teams for staying out of free agency.

It can also be viewed as teams allowing quality players to hit Free Agency. If a team knows that they can get a compensatory pick just for letting a guy walk, that could be in their best interest. And it's good for the players because now teams are more incentivized to let them test Free Agency.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

It makes the decision to trade Monroe for comp range picks an indication they were planning on being active this year in FA.  I'm surprised i didn't see that theory in the bickering fest...
