Derek Carr pro day
|
Not that it's a surprise, or that it's a big deal, but Carr was fantastic today as expected. The Jags brass was at the Notre Dame pro day and not Fresno St's, so either they aren't that interested in Carr or they saw enough during the Sr bowl to not need to see any more at this time.

They stated weeks ago that they wouldn't spend additional time with players they had time with at Senior Bowl.

I really like him. I think a Watkins/Clowney/Mack round one and Carr round two would be fantastic.

Alex Smith got a standing ovation at his workout. Mike mayock said the best pro day he ever saw was jamarcus russels. These workouts only mean anything for suckers.

Quote:I really like him. I think a Watkins/Clowney/Mack round one and Carr round two would be fantastic.Wait. Hold up. I know that you were high on Carr but after his bowl game you soured on him a bit. What's changed? Btw, I think he's the most physically gifted QB in this draft with the highest upside and leadership qualities Gus would love. I don't however think he's ready to start out of the gate and needs to clean up his mechanics a bit. A year or two on the bench and I believe he'll end up as the best QB out of this year's class. With that said he's not a top 5 pick but I don't think he'll last until our pick in round 2.

Quote:Wait. Hold up. I think his intangibles are the best in the class. He has what it takes to lead a franchise and a city. He also has the best physical tools of anyone in the class except maybe Manziel. I think if he could sit a year or even a half a year he'd be a franchise QB. As far as what changed, nothing much. I was disappointed by his bowl game but i realized its just one game.

Guys, guys, its because they watched his bowl game and saw Gabbert 2.0, while Caldwell believes in building through the draft I don't think he wants to trade first rounders for 6th rounders.
![]() Quote:That was in regards to interviews at the combine...I don't think it pertains to pro days necessarily. A reporter asked specifically if that was the case. Caldwell made it clear that the senior bowl gave them a great opportunity to eliminate redundancy and see / meet more prospects moving forward. It went beyond the combine.
It looks like Carr only completed 56 or 63 throws. Those numbers are on par with Bridgewater. That is pretty turrible for a Pro Day. I just finished watching Bottles' Pro Day on the website and he still has a noodle arm. All his passes fluttered and he did his whole workout at half speed. Johnny Boy will blow these pretenders out of the water when it's his turn.

I'm still not really big on Carr. I wouldn't be upset if we grabbed him in the 2nd or 3rd, but even then I think I may want someone other than that. If they really think they can fix his footwork, then I guess go for it, but that's not someone you spend a high pick on.
