Mallett to Texans?
|
If Mallett gets traded to the Texans its almost a given the take Clowney. A team will then probably trade up to the Rams for Teddy or Manziel. However it plays out we will get a great player in the first.
Clowney, Mack, Watkins, Manziel, or Teddy and I will be happy. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000...e-interest We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Part of me can't help but wonder how much sadistic joy Fisher would take in that situation. The Jaguars spent a fourth-round pick to jump one spot above him to steal Blackmon in 2012 (in retrospect, we should've let him have the bum), and now he's got the chance to call Cleveland and say, "Hey guys, got a fourth-round pick? Want to switch spots?".
Tom Brady is going to be 37 this next playing season. I don't see the Pats trading Mallett away, if he has any potential to take the reigns from Brady once he retires (which I think is not too far away).
Quote:Mallett to Houston would be awesome Problem is, it will likely prove "awesome" for Houston, too. (Clowney + Mallett) I've made it no secret that Mallett is one of the QB I'd like the Jags making a play for, as well. He's going to be a franchise level QB in this league, IMO. Quote:Mallett has not shown anything that should make you think he will be a "franchise level QB". sigh... and Brunell at the point he was traded hadn't shown anything that would make someone think he was a franchise level QB, either. Same with Hasselbeck. None of them had been given the opportunity yet. But Mallett was clearly the best of the 3 in college, and has shown just about all the attributes you look for in a FL-level QB.
Quote:sigh...Well this isnt the FL, this is the NFL! Just because you are a good FL quarterback does not mean it will translate to the NFL game. Quote:<div></div> Trolls gonna troll. ![]() Quote:sigh... Mallett isn't those type of QBs. His problem is mostly between the ears. I hope Houston trades a high pick for him. I don't think his odds for success are high and either way I'm betting he's not ready for the big stage at this point. He didn't even impress at Arkansas pro day when he threw the other day from what I read. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Then there's this...

Quote:Then there's this...good, still a shot at Cowney Quote:Then there's this... I was just about to post a tweet they link in that article. I still hold out small hope they make the trade.
Quote:Mallett isn't those type of QBs. He threw at the pro day recently??? I thought that was something only potential draftees do. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:He threw at the pro day recently??? I thought that was something only potential draftees do. :unsure:He did. I'm not sure how. But apparently you can. I read that during Ole Miss' spring day they had several guys who graduated in '13 that had been picked up on UDFA deals doing the pro day. Not too sure how it works, but all reports were that Mallett looked the same as when he came out of college. Good arm, but that's it

Quote:He threw at the pro day recently??? I thought that was something only potential draftees do. I think Vince Young threw at the Texas pro day last yer. I thought Jamarcus Russel threw at one too last season. As for Mallet, I hope the Texans don't make that trade.
Quote:I think Vince Young threw at the Texas pro day last yer. I thought Jamarcus Russel threw at one too last season.Agreed, if the Texans trade for Mallett it almost certain they take Clowney. If not, its almost certain they take a QB. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:He's going to be a franchise level QB in this league, IMO. What do you base that assertion on, exactly? The fact that he's Brady's backup? So were Matt Cassel and Brian Hoyer...
Quote:sigh... Actually, Hasselbeck's preseason performances were part of the reason why the Seahawks and Holmgren (his head coach in Green Bay) traded for him. Mallett hasn't shined in the preseason.
