DE is one of the top two biggest needs for the Jaguars. The other being QB. Jordan was selected at #3 last year, & the Jags pick at 3 this year. Obviously you don't give up that pick with this much talent coming out. Given potential, age and talent, I'd say the rd 2 pick. Maybe throw in a late rounder as well to sweeten the pot.


Scenario 1- still draft Clowney and have potentially one of the best DE tandems ever. Take a QB in the third (Murray, McCarren or Mettenburger) if available.


Scenario 2- take the best available QB. I still say Bridgewater, but Manziel or Bortles would be nice too.


Scenario 3- take the best available player. Watkins, Robinson, Mathews or Mack and continue the building process.

But that would make Andre Branch the odd man out since he can't play a traditional 4-3 DE and I doubt Jordan can either.

 

As for Clowney, I like Clowney as a traditional 4-3 end more than a LEO. Leave the LEO spot for a pass rusher that can't shed blocks. Clowney has the technique to do that just fine.

Third-rounder. If the Dolphins really are looking to dump him, it's a sign that they believe they screwed the pooch badly in drafting him. As such, his trade value will be nowhere near what his draft stock would be if this were his year.

 

I guess the question would be how badly the Dolphins want to get rid of him. If they do move him, I wouldn't be shocked if it's because someone gives up a two, but I also wouldn't be shocked if the price is a four and a conditional pick next year.

He wouldn't be an odd man out. He'd be what he should be IMO, a rotational pass rushing specialist. He'd help keep Jordan fresh. 

I think it takes more than a second to nab Jordan but man I'd be happy if we could get him for that.

4th at best. Miami isn't about to give up on a guy they think could be a quality pass rusher. There was a reason why they didn't use him more. You can make talent "fit" or at least give it more than one season to figure it out.

2nd without hesitation. Miami is dumb and tried to use him strictly as a pass rusher on passing downs (not many snaps at all). This isn't using his ability to the fullest. He should be playing SLB since he is extremely fluid in coverage.
