He directed Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation and Groundhog Day. Even without his acting, he'd still be a comedy icon.

Wow, too bad. Such a shame that he was troubled so much physically the last years of his life. I've been a fan of Ramis since his SCTV days, and every movie he has been a part of is on my favorite comedy movie list, and a couple are up there among my favorite movies of any genre. It is always so sad when we lose someone who was responsible for so much laughter.
