Kenny Guiton

Not sure if there is already a thread on him, but I've been watching a little bit on him and he seems to have some game! Obviously he was never a full time starter at Ohio state but what I've seen so far as a possible udfa or 7th round flyer, I wouldn't mind taking a shot on him at rookie camp. Any thoughts?

Honestly, his cutups from the few starts he got were more impressive than Braxton's. Granted it was against weaker competition early in the year, but still he looked like a legit prospect. I really don't know why he isn't regarded as some kind of QB prospect.
I am surprised someone else started a thread about him on a board full of Buckeyes haters.
Unfortunately it is hard to judge a player who only started a few easy games but the fact that he played well enough for Ohio State to not miss Braxton Miller when he was hurt tells me he is better than other college backups. Usually a starter's injury is very noticeable when he is out, even if the opponent is not very good.

A lot of people talk about Manziel’s arm strength negatively, but I don’t see why. He has a very strong arm. From what I’ve seen, in terms of pure arm strength, I’d put him second above Bridgewater
and behind Mariota. He is able to throw the ball for chunks of yardage at a time through the air, and honestly he could probably throw it a whole lot further if he put his weight behind it (he has footwork issues which I’ll address later). One thing I was also pleasantly surprised with was his touch. He knows how to control the arc of the ball pretty well, but it’s not fantastic. I would also put him second in this category, with Mariota at third (Bridgewater is far and away the best touch passer in the country.) Anyway, I digress. He is also, as you can see from the statistics, very accurate. 80% accuracy against the best team in the country isn’t normal. It’s very good.

I really don't know why he isn't regarded as some kind of QB prospect. Probably because he was a backup all four years. I don't think of him as better or worse than Braxton Miller because they are different types of quarterbacks. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Matt Cassell? ? I havent seen anything from him but I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of him as an UDFA. wouldn't spend a pick on a career backup though

Quote:Are you comparing Guiton to Cassel? Not in terms of style of play. However Cassel was on a USC squad as depth, probably could have started elsewhere and ended up drafted as a 7th rounder. Eventually became a starter in the league. Kenny Guiton could go through the same path, thus the comparison.
UDFA, maybe. Not sure he will ever be an NFL quarterback though. He'll probably end up in the Canadian or Arena league.

I don't know where Kenny Guiton is projected, but I also think he will be a third day pick because he never really earned a start. Hopefully he will be a better backup than Cassel.
