Cleveland almost pulled off a trade for Jim Harbaugh?

Quote:Per multiple league sources, the Cleveland Browns nearly pulled off a trade with the 49ers for the rights to coach Jim Harbaugh.

A deal that would have sent multiple draft picks to San Francisco was in place between the teams.  But Harbaugh ultimately decided not to leave the 49ers.

The 49ers could not immediately be reached for comment.  Efforts to contact the 49ers continue.

Wow. Someone has some explaining to do.

The 49ers would have confirmed that if it was true. Instead they said it was "ridiculous" and "completely false." So it never happened.

Quote:After PFT's Mike Florio asked why the 49ers didn't deny the report on the record, Niners CEO Jed York responded on Twitter: "Is this on the record? Report isn't true."

So you can forget about it.

Quote:In contrast, the Browns have commented on the story on the record, and the Browns have neither called the story “completely false” nor “ridiculous.”

Do you really expect the 9ers to come out and say "yeah we tried to trade Harbaugh but it fell thru"?

Quote:Enter Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

“Browns did indeed make a run at Jim Harbaugh that reached a serious stage, sources confirm substance of @ report,” Mortensen said via Twitter.

Given the sensitive nature of the relationship between the 49ers and Harbaugh — a relationship sufficiently volatile to apparently prompt the 49ers to consider ending it — it’s easy to understand why the 49ers would take the position that the report isn’t true.  Since the trade didn’t happen, the 49ers need to work with Harbaugh.

They also may need to sign Harbaugh to a long-term contract, breaking the impasse that currently exists, according to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.

Yep.

Oakland traded Gruden to Tampa Bay fit draft picks
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Was Oakland-Tampa Bay trade the only one ever existed in the SB era?

Herm Edwards garnered a 4th from Kansas City, when the Jets traded him in 2006.

I'm sure if Harbaugh would have been traded, he would have Barry sandered the Browns.

It just goes t show how inept that franchise is.

Bill Parcells was traded from the Patriots to the Jets along with Curtis Martin.

I don't know what picks the Patriots got.

What happened was the Browns tried to get him and he said no thanks. That was just a couple phone calls, not "almost pulling it off."

LOL I wasn't expecting that question.

One per email address, so if you want another one, simply use a different email. I did that many times on this board and everyone forgot the old names before JaguarsWoman.

You couldn't be more wrong on your assumption on this one.

You have nothing that should lead you to say it never happened, if anything what you've provided should lead you to think it did happen.  The 49ers are trying to cover their backside now after Harbaugh nixed the deal.

I am taking issue with the phrase "almost pulled off a trade." That sounds like the teams had a verbal agreement that fell through after being put in writing.

Harbaugh just sounds like someone who is difficult to work with.
Only a chump boos the home team!
