CBS: Marino, Sharpe out. Tony Gonzalez in.

Thank god. Sharpe was awful and Marino brought nothing.

Dang it! Now ends my dream of hearing Shannon Sharpe say "Donovan McNabb posts a consistently high completion percentage" while eating a bowl of cereal and having marbles in his mouth.

I may have to find a new life goal.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Maybe now the Marino Curse can end!  And it can be passed on to CBS.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

When I had a subscription to Sirius I loved listening to Sharpe eat while broadcasting.  Great stuff.

It looks like CBS realized it is important to have someone who played in the current decade on its show.

"Having just stepped off the playing field, Tony brings a fresh and insightful perspective," CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus said.

In other words, have somebody who is not "old school" and really understands how the NFL is today.

That was back in....2006? 2007?  Not sure if you can get old recordings of Sirius broadcasts.  A lot of times I liked what he had to say but was annoyed when you could hear the food-in-mouth talk/swallowing.

Huh

Gonzalez is probably a good choice.  We'll see.

Sharpe often had some fairly insightful things to say - but it was a bit tough to endure him struggling to form the thought and then enunciate it at times.

Marino.  Ehhhh. Whatever.  Ironically  - I thought he was better this past year than in years past. (He actually did a good job of masking his Jaguar hatred this past year - surely due to his prior relationship with Henne)   I wonder if he wasn't personally ready to move on.....

Even if Marino wasn't the greatest on the show, I did like the fact that one of the best QBs of all time was available for insight. Boomer is still there I guess, but he was no Marino. Don't get me started on Terry Bradshaw on Fox. He's just there for comic relief. I hope they could get someone better than, say, Trent Dilfer to take his place. This is a QB driven league and it's nice to hear about it from one of the greatest of all time.

No Brett Favre please.

I hear he sounds like Siri when this happens.

As bad as Sharpe was in studio, how can we forget that travesty of him in the broadcast booth during the Jaguars-Broncos game. Pathetic.

I've always felt that Sharpe was very intelligent, he simply didn't articulate his thoughts all that well. I ended up agreeing with a lot of what he said, but his delivery was worse than a Papa John's driver on a Vespa.

I don't see how you could tell the difference either way.

His speech is incomprehensible regardless.  Even worse than Frangie.

I can't stand Tony G personally, he's a great player but when he has a mic I change the channel.
