How Many Roster Moves?

#1

Caldwell and friends made nearly 240 roster moves last season in an attempt to upgrade the roster and evaluate available talent. Gus hinted the other day that they likely won't be quite as active in the coming year as they know their roster better and have improved the "bottom half" of it considerably.

With that knowledge - and with the spectacular boredom the offseason brings - I humbly present my latest stoopid poll.

Take a stab at how many moves Dave makes 'tween now and January next year.

I'm hoping for the <70 option. It's never a good thing when you're making 100+ roster moves in a season.

I think there will still be a bunch (though not as many) simply out of the desire/need to improve.

Still, I had to go back and change my vote to blank #2 after realizing the error of my ways.

I chose 160-190. I feel there will be many players coming aNd going again this year but not as much as last year. I think Caldwell feels good about a few of the positions and continues me search for all the rest. So we will have a lot of players coming and going just not as bad as last season.

Edit 190-220 was a tempting choice though.

How is it not a good thing? You're getting a look at the most players you possibly can. This is how Seattle rebuilt their roster.

The only logical answer for roster movements is the same as bowel movements.

if your moving 100+ guys on and off the roster it means you have a lot of work on the bottom end of the roster that needs to be done. The first year great, it's expected by year two I'd hope for a significant reduction of roster moves. At this point I'm hoping we've found the special team guys, the core group to build around and built some depth.

I'm praying for a short turn around, I can't stomach another 4-5 year rebuild.

I vote corn, because eating corn is one move that you just can't go wrong with.

I vote the same number. You always move a lot of personnel entering camp and exiting camp. If you run a full camp that's about sixty-plus roster moves right there. 53-man roster balloons to what 80? 27 in and 27 out. Add in about ten to twenty during camp.

The way roster moves are counted, the same guys you cut and re-sign during the season for roster spots are moved over and over again...each time it counts. How many times did Ebert get moved last season?

Here's a link, apparently, for every roster move made in Jaguars' history.

Umm... we have to fill our roster to 90, cut it to 53, add 8 to the practice squad. Thats over 70 right there. LOL

It won't be like last year because they have a feeling who most of the guys are this year. We pretty much know who a large portion of the roster will be and we'll know even more after FA and the draft. Also here's hoping theres not so many on IR this season.

The Op's asking about new contract moves, a player already under contract that you bring back from last year isn't a roster move.

I would vote corn, but it has to be organic corn, don't want any of that GMO garbage. I don't need to be fatter....

Corn...The more corn the better. Makes a great mash, and a better shine.....Good stuff to consume next year.

190-200.  Fewer question marks in defensive backfield, but as many or more than last season almost everywhere else, especially O-line.  I think we'll see a lot of movement before the starting lineup gets established.

It's always hard for me to decide between blank #2 and corn...  I can never choose...  In my utopian paradise, there would be an option for Corn AND Blank #2...   Oh to dream...
