I think it would be fun to write a mock draft that has new trades. Apparently all mockers pretend to assume nobody will trade anything in the first round even though there are first round trades every year. But is there any reason we can't include trades in a mock here?

 

For example:

 

1. Teddy Bridgewater (Texans)

2. Johnny Manziel (Browns from Redskins through Rams)

3. Jadaveon Clowney (Jaguars)

4. Sammy Watkins (Rams from Browns)

5. Anthony Barr (Raiders)

My god, what an idea!

 

People don't post mocks with trades because there's absolutely no way to predict the trades.  You can slot players according to projected rounds and team needs, but you absolutely cannot predict where trades will occur and what teams will be involved with any kind of accuracy at all.

 

Mocks are decent fun to follow because you can get a general consensus on a player's approximate value.  You can learn approximately when a guy would be considered a "steal" and use that knowledge to excite yourself on draft day when your team's pick is coming up and that guy is still on the board.  They're otherwise pretty much useless.  Almost none of the info comes from the actual teams.
