Falcons hire Scott Pioli as assistant GM

Interesting hire for Atlanta.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

As another said in the comments....some people are better as the assistant than the top guy.

A lot of truth to this.  Wade Philips comes to mind.  Norv Turner.   That being said, Pioli did gather the talent that helped the Chiefs stack that roster.  He never took a punter in the 3rd round, LOL.  Reminds me of the last Carolina GM who got them a solid roster only to be fired and see the next guy get all the credit.

Yeah but he also created the toxic environment that lead to his firing, that being said as an assistant GM Atlanta looks to have really set themselves up with this hire. Pioli and Dimetrioff were dynamite in NE. and Pioli definitely drafted most of the talent on the Chiefs right now. I am not sure how true the stuff coming out about the chiefs was, but I think he will get his chance to be a GM again.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Whenever I see Pioli's name, I'm reminded that he and Chief's coach Romeo Crennel were talking to Jevon Belcher in the Chief's stadium parking lot seconds before Belcher walked a few steps away from them and shot himself in the head, committing suicide.

I can't imagine how something like that affects a person.
