The 49ers were looking for a trade partner after the Super Bowl, not before the conference championship games started. Also this time we are talking about a coach and a quarterback who used to be on the same team, so there is a reason to believe somebody just made it up.

Higher no, I'd say they both have franchise QB ceilings, though. Neither of Bridge or Mallett are game manager types.
