It's been over 10 years since I have watched the "pro wrestling", but from about 6 years old to 20 I was a big time fan. The Warrior was probably my all time favorite, or at least 1A, 1B with a couple others.

 

Saw this article on Yahoo this morning about him finally being inducted after an 18 years absence. Far to long for this guy!

The great ones do a whole lot more than "fake" wrestle. Actually they all do but the greats are great performers. A lot are great athletes. There really is a lot more to it than "faking" things.

I don't think anyone knowledgeable about professional wrestling would claim that many of the participants aren't talented athletes and performers, but every match is scripted, every outcome predetermined, every wrestling move discussed in advance so risk of injury is minimized. It's not a sporting event, it's just entertainment disguised as sport.

 

These guys and gals should be eligible for something like a Golden Globe or Oscar.

There are Circus HOF's, Burlesque HOF's, separate Music HOF's of every genre, scuba diving HOF, Toy Industry HOF, Robot HOF's, etc., etc., etc.

 

It's to honor the best at what they did. It doesn't matter how, why, or what. Some are looking waaaay more into this then what it should be.

I would say wrestling is 80% personality/schtique and 20% physical.  It's not putting them down, but the greatest wrestlers are the ones who could entertain the crowd the most.  I havent watched for probably coming up on 15 years, but some wrestlers of the past were much more entertaining than some of the stuff I watch now.
