ESPN Reporting That Bobby Petrino Was Offered Louisville Job

Would be a phenomenal hire. Petrino is one of the top college offensive play callers in the game.

Report also says that he is expected to accept.

Yuck.  Again?  I thought they learned their lesson?  Guess not.

He's a good coach, but a snake in the grass.  Surprised they'd hire him again have signing a 10 year contract last time and leaving 6 months later.

Louisville's Brain Trust: "Hmmm, this milk that got delivered to my doorstep this warm July morning seems to be a bit spoiled... Maybe if I leave it outside for another day then come back to it it'll be better!"

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Because they know he can coach his tail off. Dollars and cents is what matters more often than not in the NCAA.

Didn't he expose Arkansas to a possible sexual harassment lawsuit?

I suppose if they fire him quick enough before he gets into trouble again then maybe the Louisville boosters will donate 1.5 million like the Arkansas boosters did after Arkansas fired him.

I think with all he's been through Bobby will consider Louisville a destination job now....that is what Jurich wants for the program....not another guy looking for a springboard to another job
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

He started Louisville on the rise to a pretty dang good job. Not a bad place to finish out his career.

It's comical that TU sportswriters have this blind man-crush on Petrino.

As a long time Louisville fan I must say Schnellenburger was the coach that changed the perception of our football program! Since him it has been on a steady climb (except for the Cooper and Kragthorpe gaffes)

There's no question about that. An excellent offensive coach, and very good at developing QB's.

Quote:They do?
 Yup.

The TU staff and Bobby boy used to hold hands way back in the late 1990s.

People forget that after OC Chris Palmer left as head coach of the brand new Cleveland Browns after the 1998 Jaguars' season, Tom Coughlin served as head coach and offensive coordinator. The TU fabricated a rift between Coughlin and then-franchise QB Mark Brunell. The TU published that the Jaguars needed Petrino to serve as a buffer between the head coach and star QB.

It was enough to get the snout of the camel into the tent, so to speak. Tom hired Petrino as QB coach, but not offensive coordinator as the TU demanded.  Carelessly, The TU seemingly ignored the entire NFL coaching community to pimp Bobby boy as Palmer's replacement in first place. Tom could not simply hire as Petrino as OC since Bobby boy had zero NFL coaching experience at that point.

When Coughlin wouldn't make Petrino OC, he backed himself up by producing a 14-2 record in 1999.

Tom still held the OC title for the 2000 season

Coughlin finally promoted Petrino to OC in 2001 as the Jaguars' began to cut personnel to stay under the salary cap. Weaver and Huyghue's crazy, mixed up capology caved in by the end of that year, and the TU staff led the stampede to fire Tom.

Ironically, the TU Staff got egged by Bobby boy, as once he was named the Jaguars' offensive coordinator prior to the 2001 season, Petrino quit the NFL after just one year as the Jaguars' OC.

He's a coward and a quitter. Tom Coughlin promoted him from QB coach to OC and Bobby boy jumped ship like a wharf rat on a sinking ship after the 2001 season.

He will NEVER be a head coach in the NFL after quitting the Atlanta Falcons mid-season.
