Houston trading #1 pick?

#21

Quote:Yeah, we will see come draft time. Someone always slides like crazy. I'd be surprised if it's Teddy though. Between Houston and us, one of us is surely to take him, or some surprise team trading up with St Louis.

It would not surprise anybody if someone trades up to #2 - especially the Browns, who have lots of extra picks and have to leapfrog us to get the best quarterback.

All fluffs. Don't pay any attention to it.

Not all fluffs. In 2001, the Chargers traded the #1 overall pick to the Falcons after widespread rumors they were definitely going to pick Michael Vick because they needed a quarterback. Who did they pick in the second round? Drew Brees, who turned out to be better than Vick.

Sounds like Bobby boy might actually consider BAP. Which would bring Clowney and Matthews into the discussion. They aren't exactly in a great cap situation so they could see Matthews as a nice, cheaper replacement for Duane Brown long term.

They could draft Matthews to be their right tackle and keep Duane Brown, so that would never happen. What makes you think they would be that stupid?

Because it would save them money, and teams like to replace more expensive players with cheaper players. Why do you think we traded Monroe? Becuase we drafted a replacement who is cheaper than a Monroe extension would have been.

We could have kept Monroe until he became a free agent and gotten a compensatory pick for letting him walk.
