Too many empty seats

Hey FBT... we all know about her "Limits", but you don't have to make them public. You're a mod, and you should be more professional than this.

And she's been around long enough to know what she's seeing when watching the games on TV.

Yes, thanks. He's up and around today. He's not sure if it was something he ate or not.

FBT should quit being so condescending. It's really getting annoying

FBT apparently likes to be condescending. Probably makes up for other "issues".

JaguarWoman's question is valid. There were fewer fans there than I anticipated, but then I realized I have no idea as to how many season tickets, etc., have been sold.

Reports I've read indicate that 60,000 tickets were "distributed". Assume 10,000 no shows and I'd guess about 50,000 were on hand. Whether that's good or bad is up to you. Valid reason's why people weren't there. (I got home at 12:30 am.)

I thought it was made clear by Mark Lamping that there will be no blackouts. They're not going to discuss it, end of conversation. I have no idea how many tickets Khan has to eat, at $0.34 on the dollar, but they value the game being on television.

A few more games like Thursday's and the attendance numbers will certainly go up.

People bought tickets and showed up.  Just because you see an East Club section as the predominate view from the TV cameras doesn't mean the people weren't there. Not sure how many times this has to be explained, but apparently at least once more.

Sorry, FBT, but I have to disagree with you.   I sit in the East Club, and  from where I was sitting  there were thousands of empty seats on the West side.   In fact, I would  guess there were about 20,000 empty seats total.   I'm sure most of it was from people having tickets but not showing up for a Thursday night game, because the announced ticket sale was over 60,000.

The crowd was loud and enthusiastic, but there were large swaths of empty seats.

To be fair, last week's game in Cleveland looked even worse.   Cleveland's stadium looked half full on TV.   They announced 69,000 tickets sold, but I swear only half of them showed up.

I would imagine a lot of fans miss games at this time of year. Especially if their team isn't going to make the playoffs. With that in mind, I would still think the majority of fans would go to the games, winning, or losing. I have been to games where it couldn't have even been half full (or half empty, like my beer). I enjoy the atmosphere "at" the game, and I think most of us (fans of the NFL) are pretty much alike.

I'm considering going to Cincinnati tomorrow for the Bengals/Colts game. It has been a couple years since I have been there, and it is a pretty enjoyable day trip ... away game within 2 hours drive makes it appealing as well. From my experiences the Bengals fans have been pretty decent towards opposing fans ... Never had a bad experience there. I should have looked at tickets a few weeks ago, so if I go I will be at the mercy of finding good seats from a scalper. Then again, I guess I could look at stubhub to see what the possibilities would be, maybe I can pick something up at the stadium.

Quote:I thought the same thing last night at first. Last night was the first game I have been able to go to due to some health problems, and it was great to be back there. When I was sitting in my seat, I saw a lot of empty seats in the stadium. However, when I went into the concourse or the bud zone, it was jam packed with people.

What I do know is that it was a crowded house last night. Just because butts aren't in seats doesn't necessarily mean that people aren't there. I think the Jaguars have stumbled upon a double edged sword with their whole gameday experience for the fan. There is so much to do at the stadium that it gives the appearance to the casual viewer that this team doesn't draw fans.

I really want to call it an ignorant stance, but unless someone has been to Everbank, they simply wouldn't understand.

Empty seats do not equal people not being there. It's one of those weird things.

There are some people really exaggerating in this thread. The only areas that had large amounts of empty seats were the nosebleeds. There were a lot of late arrivals as well so let's not forget that. The crowd started thinning out late in the game around the 2min mark.

Even though I didn't get a chance to do my regular tailgate set up, my friends, and my wife enjoyed the atmosphere. She took a few Jell-O shots, and I had a shot of moonshine with some of the regulars in tailgaters lot.

People complaining about how the attendance look on tv can directly help out by purchasing tickets, and going to the games, simple as that.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

I got you Sammy.

If you come to Jax the next time the clots are in town come on over to the fairgrounds.

We will send you back with so much leftover shine you can either supply the whole state of Indiana, or bootleg it Barry Switzer style.

I am not usually a procrastinator, and every season I say I am going to make it back to Jacksonville for the Jags/Colts game. I plan on it, plan on it ... and then I don't follow through. I'm a little ashamed of myself, as there is no reason at all that I haven't been there for a game in the last 6ish + years.

When I do make it back, I am going to cash in on that moonshine. Wink
