(I think 170 penalty yards of shooting their six-guns squarely into their own feet was a major reason they lost, BTW)

They were tanking on purpose.  But then Kubiak tried to win the game by inserting Schaub.   So they fired him for trying not to tank.   Then they paid him huge hush money so he wouldn't talk about it.

Yeah the owner was pretty clear on Case being the quarterback.  He isn't going to let football operations override his favorite Texas College players any more.
