Tomlin could face $100,000 fine, loss of draft pick

I doubt it'll go that far, but the league will probably punish him.  If the Steelers had won, this would have been a major stain on the NFL.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

It was horrible, shouldn't be interfering with what is going on on the field.

They should take their 1st round pick and give it to the Jaguars

If only they did not need it for themselves.

I agree.  It only makes sense.  Sure, you could give the pick to the Ravens, but that seems a bit unfair to the Steelers.  Instead it should be given to a team that made a trade with the Ravens earlier in the year.  We traded them Monroe, who was a 1st round pick.  Did any other teams trade them a 1st round pick?  I don't think so.  Therefore the Jags make the most sense.

Also the Buccaneers for their MRSA thing.  And Jacksonville happens to also be in the same state as the Buccs, which means they could have given our players MRSA.  Miami is further from Tampa, therefore less likely to get it from the Buccaneers than the Jags.

I heartily endorse this product and/or event.

The Steelers definitely should lose their first round pick.

The NFL needs to start coming down HARD on teams that try to cheat, and this cheating was extremely visible and blatant. To allow the steelers to get away with what happened would put quite the tarnish on the league's image.

Here's a video of the incident clearly showing Tomlin step forward into the field of play as Jones is nearing him.

He's will and deserves to be penalized severely for that. It wouldn't surprise me to see him suspended for a game or two. However, the best way to curb something like this isn't to hit the pocketbook, but through a loss of draft picks. That way the actions don't just harm you, but have a great impact on the team's future. Take away a midround pick from them and you can bet coaches will be on notice.

I agree completely with this. If the League really wants certain actions to stop, then hit teams at the target of "scarce resources" which is draft picks. Of course, I have serious doubts that the owners would ever agree to something like this since it would mean that they would actually be liable for the conduct of their players and coaches, but it's a nice idea.

Good grief. Taking away draft picks?

Talk about over reaction. Is this some sort of epidemic that needs to be ended? Games being affected?

OMG OMG.

I assume he'll be heavily fined.

I think players would be a tough sell, but I think coaches could be agreed to since they have substantial power within an organization.

I wouldn't take away one this time, but make sure that everyone knows any future instance similar to this could result in a loss of draft pick.

I would not take away draft picks for this either, but if Mike Tomlin had not jumped away at the last second and Jacoby Jones tripped over him, a fine would not be severe enough.

If Jones had hit him the Ravens would have been awarded a TD.  The way it ended up Tomlin wasn't even flagged.  He did just enough to stop Jones, but escape any on field retribution.

Cris Collinsworth said he did enough for officials to award a touchdown to the Ravens.

Did you not notice the "might cost'?  I guess a beheading is possible as well.
