"Catching Fire", Out Friday, Any Fans?

My wife and I have read the series (I wish there were more books!). We are ready to see the movie. The previews look phenomenal, and the reviews are excellent. Most have stated that this one was better than the first in the series.

I read the books and thought the first movie fell way short. Too information is being glossed over and presented out of sequence to fit the movie into two hours. They try to use imagery to convey critical parts of the storyline and it just isn't working.
Preferably, they should have kept the first person narrative by having Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) provide narration to bolster the details. Btw, Jennifer Lawrence is the wrong actress for the part. It's difficult to support imagery of grinding want and need when the main character is of soft body form with a cherubic face.

I loved the books. I'm waiting on the movies for when my daughters are old enough to read the books so we can watch together. Before my mother died, I got her the books on Audio CD for her birthday. She was a huge fan. She couldn't see to watch the movie though. I'm concerned about them breaking the third book into two movies. I always felt that the third book was by far the weakest of the series. I think the first book as two movies would have been better.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Quote:This is the same problem and solution that Ender's Game had. I figured as much. That's why I'll wait until the movie is on Netflix to watch it. I just can't imagine such a complicated story line being neatly packaged into a two hour movie. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Going on Saturday to see it with the Wife and my kid Sister, they both read the books and love the series. I like the first movie but haven't read the books so everything is a surprise to me. I'm looking forward to it.

Still don't get how people can claim that the hunger games (at least the first one) isn't a complete ripoff of Battle Royale.

The same way people can claim that Battle Royale isn't a complete ripoff of The Running Man, which is just a rip off of The 10th Victim which is just a rip off of The Most Dangerous Game which is just a ripoff of Theseus and the Minotaur.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Hmmm, I just may have to go see this. It sounds much better than the first one.

The book was really really good, as was the first movie. If I have the time, I'm most definitely making a trip to the movies to see it this weekend.

My wife and I went and saw the movie the night before Thanksgiving. We both loved it and how they adapted it from the book.
The ending definitely left me wanting to see Mockingjay.....right now.

I thought this movie was better than the previous. Obviously it is directed towards the younger crowd so they can't make it as graphic as I would like it to be, but still very good. Amazing job at casting the characters. Read the books before and they are picture perfect.
Wish they had a book on the 73 other Hunger Games ha Quote:I thought this movie was better than the previous. Read the books before and they are picture perfect. The first movie was more graphic than the second for sure. I think that was by design because there were some pretty out there parts in it, particularly for the younger crowd. As far as the gore and graphic nature of blood and guts there was very minimal. Two parts in it though that made my wife "jump" out of her seat a bit. A catch ya off guard scare moment. Mockingjay has the possibility to be the goriest, obviously.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. The story was pathetic, nothing new, just some spooky fog and one "problem" after another, the charachters had no arcs at all. Then the movie didn't even have any awesome looking scenes, the fog should of been way better. And the ending please...don't need the ascension imagery. The Hobbit blows this series out of the water.

How was Finnick in the movie? Honestly, from pictures, I feel like they cast the wrong guy. Finnick was like an Adonis in the books.
Honestly, he was the definition of Adonis. Very handsome, muscular, outgoing, tall, with the tanned skin and golden hair. I thought the acting by the character cast was very good for him as well.
