Geno Hayes

Did someone flip the on switch last week? Where has this guy been?

I've been openly critical of Geno Hayes but last week was a great performance by him. Hopefully he can keep it up over the remainder of the season.

I think that's exactly what it was. Last week Gus mentioned some shake ups at a few positions and stated that John Lotulelei could begin seeing more snaps at OLB in response to our underperforming LB group. Good for Hayes for stepping up and responding to the challenge.

Lotulelei was getting snaps at SAM I think.  So he's pushing Allen more so than Hayes.

(good article on/by Allen BTW http://mmqb.si.com/2013/07/25/from-the-b...-the-nfl/)

It really did seem like the switch flipped for Hayes Sunday.  He made some nice plays.  He actually has had some flashes this season, but if he can keep playing like that his 900K salary next year looks like a bargain and Caldwell looks a lot smarter.

Interesting. I thought Allen has been playing pretty solid for us this year? Nothing spectacular just solid.

Geno Hayes finally last game just made the tackle.  He had been in position all season, but was missing tackles left and right.

Yes. Allen has been grading out positively at if you place any value in the PFF analysis.  I would imagine that Bradley will be using the remainder of the season to get a look at a number of players like Lotulelei.

Definitely nice seeing someone lay wood besides Poz. It's about time someone we brought in through FA did something productive.

No pain, no gain.

Evans had 2 nice tackles in that game as well.   Despite still being a step off in coverage most of the time he looks like he's a getting a little quicker coming up on runs and flats passes.

As far as FA productivity -   Marks and W. Blackmon are certainly earning their keep as well.

Geno Hayes got a good grade from PFF, but I also thought he had a great game.

I hope he continues to play well.

I wasn't impressed with Evans. I agree about Marks and Blackmon #2 ... and Gratz (not a FA, sad about Blackmon 1.0).

Geno did have a stellar game. Finally...

His play could be an product of finally getting comfortable w/the system or simply benefitting from the Bi-Week. Coach Bradley also said that he challenged Geno to reach the next level...He did just that...

I wasn't impressed per se -  just noting that one aspect of his game is showing a bit of improvement.  He came up and laid a hard hit on Johnson once and again on a TE , IIRC.

Each play was held to a very minimal gain.
