2013 NFL TV Distribution Maps - Week 11

Quote:Ronde Barber is going to call our game you serious lol.

This is the first time I knew he is a color analyst on Fox. It will be interesting to hear how he does.

Quote:What were you saying then?

That game is on TV in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and South Carolina - states where most fans don't root for the Falcons or Buccaneers. It would make a lot more sense if that game was only shown in Georgia and Florida.

That game is on in a very tiny part of Southeastern Arkansas.   It's an area that's an overlap of a Mississippi market.

The game is not on in any of Louisiana,  except for those who have access to NFL Sunday Ticket.

The Falcons games are broadcasted on a radio station in South Carolina,  Alabama,  and Mississippi.   There's clearly a demand for their games in those states.   It especially makes sense regarding South Carolina and Alabama,  which border Georgia and don't have their own NFL teams.  Not to mention that the Falcons have had a presence in the Southeast since 1966.

It is all about ratings or rather the game that most individuals would stay tuned in to watch, in that line up while the Lions vs Steelers will have a strong viewing up North most people in the south could care less about that game.  The game that is the most entertaining and relevant (in that the division is still close is the NFC East game).  The reason being the QB RG3 and now with Nick Foles throwing 7 tds two weeks ago both will draw fans in.

The Jaguars games when shown locally actually have viewers complain, that doesnt hold well to remaining in Jacksonville long term.

Typically the Jaguar games are reduced to just the required markets.  Not many people want to watch this team right now.

I'm surprised the yellow is as big as it is in the southeast. Two of the least popular teams in the league playing each other, what did you expect?

Being in the far north west corner of Florida sure does suck. Originally scheduled for ATL/TB the local FOX (Mobile Alabama) decided it might not be able to compete in a slot that has no early CBS game (we get to watch SD and Miami late, which means I'll be watching the Saints on FOX).... so they changed it to, Washington @ Philly...

o.O what?

I'd rather watch the hapless ATL/TB game..

or Detroit drub ol crapsburgh.

or a better idea... since I live in Florida, maybe show THE JAGUARS?!

smh

The Fox 720p signal is vastly superior to CBS' 1080i.  And no Steve Tasker.

The NFL wants ratings/ viewers. In this case it's like a choice between watching the Godfather or The Weather Channel.

Thanks for the updated information.   Being that both the Redskins and Eagles don't have a winning record and there's not a local angle that jumps out for this game in Mobile,  AL.  and throughout Mississippi,   I'm surprised that the local FOX stations in those areas went to this particular game.

One thing I can't figure out is why is the Jets-Bills game being shown in the Western Carolinas but nowhere else in the Southeast?

I'm not sure if you and/  or some others reading this thread know about the service that the NFL sells Online.    For a relatively modest price,    one can have access to all of the NFL games when a live game isn't on:
