There I say it, and I really do believe he has the potential to become as good as Matt Ryan. I dont know if Teddy has the elite skillsets to be the next big four QBs -- Rodgers, Brees, Brady and Manning. But that's not a deal breaker. They are first ballot HoF and top 10 QBs of all time. Matt Ryan is not an elite QB (not everyone can be one), but he is in every sense of the word franchise QB, and most teams in the NFL would be lucky to have a QB like Ryan.


I have no doubt in my mind that Bridgewater can be a difference maker right away with this team -- he may not win many games next season, but this team will be much more competitive than they have ever been in the last three years.


This is the most important draft in Jaguars' history, IMO. Not because we desperately need a QB or that because we might have the #1 overall pick, but because there's nowhere else to go but up.

I wouldnt mind him turning out like Ryan.  Ryan is vastly underrated

The main difference between Ryan and Teddy is their arm strength.  Teddy has more of it.  I think Ryan has been exposed a little bit this year.  It's his first year really where he's had problems with his WR's.  When he came in, he had Roddy White in the prime of his career.  When Roddy started to decline, in comes Julio Jones to take up the slack.  Now with Jones out the rest of the year and Roddy having issues, Ryan is having issues.  I do agree with you though as far as what Ryan is.  He's a franchise QB that a lot of teams would nab in a heartbeat.

 

I do think Teddy has more potential though.  His arm strength, athleticism in the pocket, and ability to read defenses coming out of college are the best that we've seen since Luck.  I honestly think that if Teddy was a year or two older, Washington would have picked him over RG3.

I know people like to compare him to Aaron Rodgers because he's a little more athletic than your typical pocket passer, but Rodgers is something else entirely. The way he nimbly moves inside and around the pocket and the how he throws the football with a very compact motion, I just love watching Rodgers plays QB on the field. Peyton Manning is probably the most cerebral qb of all time, but Rodgers is probably the most gifted player to play the QB position.


If you look at his entire career, Matt Ryan is a great QB. Not elite, but definitely a sure fire franchise QB. I see a lot of traits in Matt Ryan when I watch Teddy.

He doesn't have the arm young Brady had, but other than that, he is somewhat similar. Young Tom Brady had an absolute cannon, Teddy has just a "good" arm.

True true, Brady had some real zip back in his younger days, I am interested in seeing how he develops his throwing technique in the NFL

At this point he is what he is. His arm strength and throwing motions may have a slight increase in output after going thru the NFL conditioning program and cleaning up his fundamentals but other than that what you see is what you're going to get.

Don't be surprised if Teddy Bridgewater doesn't declare draft eligibility. He's not doing anything to help himself. One TD throw against UConn and lots and lots of drops in November....
