Top of the Second

#1

Assuming the Jags take a QB with our first pick, who do you think we target with our second? There's no shortage of needs on our team, but I will highlight a few:

-Pass Rusher (I would only take one if a good one falls into our laps, there are other positions that have more immediate success that we need)

-Defensive Tackle (Our run defense has been porous)

-Interior OL (I think our tackles are set for a good period of time, but for franchise QB and the run game to work we need better interior protection)

-Pass-Catching TE (Maybe Lyerla falls out of the first round and we think we can coach him up despite his off-field issues)

-Running Back (I feel like Denard could potentially develop long-term here, but if the FO feels differently then we could go that direction here)

-BAP

Depends on who is available and what we do in free agency

He might not even get drafted, he got busted for cocaine.

Lyerla won't even get drafted. Personally I would go pass rusher and then hopefully Easley will fall to the 3rd.

Lache Seastrunk or Lyerla, as long as we can keep him from the white stuff he'll be good

It is way too early to start thinking about this. Nobody knows right now what the Jaguars will do in free agency, who will be traded for what picks, or the Round 2 pick order.

No thx, that would be stupid if we draft a guy that just got busted for cocaine.  A real good guy to hang out with Blackmon.

Beasley and Ebron are better than 50/50 to go in the first round.  Gordon will be there but I doubt we take him if Seastrunk is there.

Hence the "hope they fall"...and Gordon >>> Seastrunk.

Andre Branch in the second.  Bryan Anger in the 3rd.

If we pick a defensive end in Round 2, he will be much better than Andre Branch.

Yea, if you're one of those rare teams lucky enough to find a 2nd round diamond in the rough. But for most teams, you probably have just as good a chance picking a DE in later rounds.  Pick positions that fit at that round.  Look at Seattle's 2nd round draft history over the last 5 years. TE,Center,Safety, Guard, Linebacker, DT.

Pass rushing DEs fit at the very top of the draft.  Every other round is a crap shoot for them.

Lyerla probably wont be drafted.  If he does, it'll be in the 6th or 7th round -- if he's lucky.  He has some legit issues that he needs to work out between now and the combine.  The guy is extremely talented, no doubt.

I think Beasly and Ebron go mid first round.  ASJ is a guy who is being talked about as somebody who could potentially slip to round two.  If that's the case, then he should be strongly considered.

If somebody forced me to make a second round selection today, I'd take Melvin Gordon.  I think his game is similar to Jamaal Charles, but with a higher ceiling.  He'd be our flashy, stud running back for the next 8-10 years.  I'd love to see him in the backfield with Bridgewater.

Its hard to say until you know who will be there, we could go anyone of those positions also could go CB or LB so BAP

Yep my first option would probably be Ebron but after that definitely Gordon. If both are gone then id go top LB/LEO available. Dont like Seastrunk enough to take him at the top of 2nd, but I wouldnt necessarily be upset if we drafted him there.

1st round or wait till the 4th or later.  You can get quality starters at other positions in the 2nd or 3rd rounds who will still be considered among the best in their position group (e.g Cyprian).
