Blackmon Is On The Brink Of Being A Top 5 Wr In The League

#1

With a terrible offensive line and with horrible QB play, Blackmon missed 4 games and is playing out of his mind right now. I know Champ Bailey is past his prime but Blackmon made him look silly. His stamina is still not quite there but he is ingulfing every ball in his zip code. The TDs will eventually fall his way.

Can we ask him to take that aweful white teeshirt under his jersey off? Its like 2 sizes too big. But for real...based on ability JB is a top 5 receiver in my book. Guys like Cobb Welker Thompkins Nelson and Damarius Thomas of the world all have inflated numbers bc their QBs are elite.

Blackmon is doing it with an aging RB, no QB, and a no name offensive line.

He probably already is if we had a real QB

Relax. He's played well this season, but he's nowhere in question of Top 5. You're really looking through the teal shades at the moment.

I agree. Guys like Andre Johnson and Fitz are still studs but they are aging. And guys like Miles Austin and Victor Cruz are fizzling out. Blackmon in just his second season season is commanding double teams and he doesn't drop passes. And you have guys like Mike Wallace who are one trick ponies.

Imo, in no particular order

Dez Bryant

Calvin Johnson

Julio Jones

AJ Green

Justin Blackmon

Roddy White is starting to breakdown. Victor Cruz is having trouble with double teams. And any of Peyton Mannings WR is just inflation bc of Manning.

Look at the big picture. He is our only offensive weapon. MJD is probably out of town after this year. He hasn't even sniffed a 100 yd game. Shorts is hurt. Our TE is a no name. Our best offense linemen are gone and our QBs are the worst in the league.

Calvin Johnson

Andre Johnson

Larry Fitzgerald

Brandon Marshall

Roddy White

Julio Jones

AJ Green

Dez Bryant

8 that are easily above him at the moment, with several more that are above him but with a case that can be made for their QB making them that good such as:

Demaryius Thomas

Victor Cruz

Jordy Nelson

lol at Victor Cruz "having trouble with double teams". He's averaging 90.2 yards a game.

He's not top 10 yet. Just be patient.

add wes welker to that list and michael crabtree and percy harvin while your at it (injured right now but crabtree is pretty good).

He is getting good and maybe he will be better than some of those, however we haven't seen him in double coverage with megatron faces and crushes every sunday as does brandon marshall come to think of it.

Little bit too much exuberance over a couple of good perfomances, but it's definitely exciting

ummm you need to watch Blackmon play, there are not many in the league who can do what he does after the catch. He may not be a top 5 at the moment, but he certainly is in the top 10. That guy is a stud.

Demaryius Thomas was good even when Tebow was hurling the ball at the ground, the bench, the stands, the beer vendor, etc.

Can we put both Blackmons on the field at once and maybe demand quadruple coverage..???

Blackmon is very, very good. There's no doubt about it. But believe it or not, there is still room for improvement.

If he can keep his head on straight and stay out of trouble, no doubt he can be a top receiver in this league. If he can show his commitment like he did during his suspension, but all the time, he's gonna be great.

In fairness, Demaryius also had dominant moments with Tebow as his QB. Brandon Marshall is still productive, and let's not forget that at one point (before questions on his work ethic and conditioning surfaced), Alshon Jeffrey was head-to-head with Blackmon as #1 WR in the draft. Nelson is a weapon, but he definitely gets the benefit of playing with Rodgers, but that's not to take away from his ability.

But as far as young/upcoming WRs are concerned? Yeah, JB's up there. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy that I was able to take him the late rounds of fantasy drafts, because this is probably the last year that happens.

Id say Blackmon has to pass a few more people to be top 5. Maybe top 10 and certainly no lower than 15th though. Most of the other elite talents have elite Qbs or other Elite receivers around them.

Thread Summarry: Roddy WHite - Julio Jones + Matt Ryan .= Clear domination. Calvin Johnson is a monster and no one can do what he does. Dez Bryant has Miles Austin a pretty good WR and Romo a good QB in a pass happy offense. AJ Green at least has a better QB. Denver has Manning but D.Thomas was dominant at times before that.

That said JB is to me much better than Nelson and will be much more of a complete receiver than Cruz will ever be.

Fits is about the only WR on the lists of those people claim are better in the same situation. No running game , Bad QB (though Palmer is much better than gahenne) , and no real WR threats outside of him. AJ Green as well .

Brady would probably put out a hit on his own mother if it meant getting Blackmon right now.

Crabtree and Harvin are such huge reaches it's ridiculous. I would remove Andre Johnson and Fitzgerald from the list; neither are what they used to be.
