Chargers Vs. Colts Mnf Game Could Be Blacked Out

#1

Fromt the Chargers website:

The San Diego Chargers received a 24-hour extension to sell enough tickets to lift the local television blackout of Monday night’s game between the Chargers and Indianapolis Colts at Qualcomm Stadium.  The game kicks off at 5:40 p.m. PT.  The team has until 5:40 p.m. PT Saturday to sell nearly 9,000 general tickets.  Several hundred Club seats – some of the best seats in the stadium – also are available.

Tickets may be purchased by logging onto www.CHARGERS.com, calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or visiting the Chargers Ticket Office located at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium.  The Chargers’ ticket office is open Saturday and Sunday from 10-4 p.m.

If the blackout is lifted, the game will be telecast nationally by ESPN and also seen in San Diego on KUSI-TV, Channel 9.  Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden will call the action and Lisa Salters will report from the sidelines.

San Diego is a major market. It is richer and more heavily populated than Jacksonville and Indianapolis. And yet there is a good chance a Monday Night Football Game could be blacked out unless there is a major turnaround in the next 24 hours.

2 teams have left Los Angeles in the last 30 years. The NFL has grown into the richest sports league in world history without a team in LA. But apparently having a team in Los Angeles is considered essential.

Colts fans in Indianapolis and across the nation will be able to watch the game. But for Colts and Charger fans in San Diego, there is a chance they may not see the game at all. That's really sad for a market the size of San Diego. Especially given that it is a nationally televised MNF game.

It makes sense to me. The Chargers avoided the blackout only because companies and sponsors including ESPN bought the remaining tickets. A market of this size? Inexcusable.

The Chargers should just sign Tebow already. He can't be much worse than what they have and he'll help put butts in the seats. Also I heard they  will be playing a few home games a year at Estadio Azteca soon.

If this were Jacksonville it would be one of the lead stories on ESPN.

That, and we wouldn't be getting ESPN's help with ticket sales either. ESPN can sit on it and spin.

The Chargers desperately need a new stadium.       If they don't get a new stadium in the next few years,   they could easily be back in L.A.     That much more likely if the NFL's goal is to get 2 teams back in L.A.

The fact that the Chargers already have a sizeable fan base in L.A.  would give them a head start in building a long term future there.      Plus,  many people from the San Diego area would make one or more trips to L.A. per season to see the Chargers.

Seems like the Chargers have always had the Colt's number. In the Manning days, and now in the Luck days.

I don't feel nearly as confident in our ability to stay competitive with them next week.

No comeback for Captain Neckbeard tonight. Nice INT to D. Cox.

This Colts loss helps us in so many ways.

-Colts could be playing for something in week 17

-Lowers our SoS (not much though since it was to San Diego)

-Get to watch a divisional rival lose

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I think they miss Arians way too much.

The clots are going to get walloped next week. Manning may put a 100 up on that defense.

T Rich is inexcusably bad in regards to what they traded away for him.  He had one nice catch yesterday and then the same old measly stat line

The Clots could have used that first round pick to address that junky defense, but I guess that is better for us.
