Monroe Traded

Quote:I won't be happy if they are 3rd day picks.

We could get more in terms of compensatory picks for letting him walk.

I forgot about that.....you are right.

So, so bad.

We replaced a very good left tackle with an unproven tackle with the second overall pick, and then shipped him off for peanuts.

It's as if we didn't even have a first round pick last year.

Quote:Is he strictly a RT? Since Joeckel will now be firmly entrenched as an OLT (good thing, IMO) we need to get a RT that is the players natural position

Mathews played RT when Joeckel was there he is not a LT, and I think he is better then Joeckel I doubt we can draft him unless the Monroe trade pick ends up in the top ten. No way we draft another T at one.

Considering the current need for LT's in the NFL,    the Jaguars should get at least the equivalent 1st Round pick for Eugene Monroe.

In the case of the Baltimore Ravens,    I'm assuming that Ozzie Newsome plans on keeping Monroe around a long time.    Bryant McKinnie isn't getting any younger and has major weight and conditioning issues in the past.

Without even knowing the terms of the trade,   what Dave Caldwell did reminds me of the trade G.M. Martin Mayhew made with the Cowboys when he took over for Matt Millen in Detroit during the 2008 season.     The Lions got 1st,  3rd,  and 6th Round picks from the Cowboys for WR Roy Williams and a 7th Round pick.    This trade went along way in the Lions going 0-16 and then selecting Franchise QB Matthew Stafford with pick # 1 in 2009.      Clearly,  Caldwell is thinking that it's a priority to get a key Franchise piece in place,  in 2014.

Gabbert sucks. We're getting Teddy anyway. We're gonna be even more of a laughing stock now. This trade sucks.

I tried to tell y'all. WASTED PICK. Shame on those who defended it.

Worst trade ever. My dear lord... getting crap for a beast LT
Did we trade Tony Boselli in his prime?  Cause we haven't had a "beast LT" since he played....Monroe is a good LT, but certainly not a beast.

The most you get for a comp pick is a end if the 3rd.---at best

Boselli was offered up in the expansion draft, post surgery. I don't think he ever played a down for the Texans.

Not the same.

Again, we werent going to re-sign him, would you rather get a 5th round compensation pick or this? Those are the two options we have, or pay Monroe top 10 LT money. I guess Caldwell didnt think he deserved that.

It REALLY seems like Monroe wasnt interested in negotiating here, and honestly I cant blame him. If a player is set to leave at the end of this year get whatever you can for him.

Apparently one of the smartest franchises in the league love Him.

Schefter is rarely wrong, but he has to be here, right?  Schefter's tweet said multiple third day picks but he didnt say that was it.  I'm grasping here.

Wow.  I just got to ask why?   Hopefully atleast a 2nd and a 3rd.  Caldwell Stocking up on draft picks.  Any takers for lewis?

Baltimore either made Caldwell an offer he couldn't refuse or just a dumb mistake.  Now we have to find another RT althought it doesn't matter much this year.

One 3rd vs "multiple 6th and 7th rounders?"

FAIL. Try again.

This is just the beginning.

Shorts will be gone, Blackmon will leave at the end of his rookie deal.

Explain to me why any young, talented players will want to stay in Jacksonville.

Hell, the Jaguars send me a survey yesterday and can't even get my name right. We're a joke and it will be a cold day in hell before I renew my season tickets.

In section 222 at least 30 people around us have been quite vocal that they will not be renewing their tickets, these are some people that have had tickets since the beginning of the franchise. I can only imagine the talk around other sections.

I would be surprised I we have 20,000 in the stands by the start of next year
